The Champion

I know most people probably don’t use The Champion anymore if they ever did.

For one of his abilities he has “Champion of the Universe”.
This gives him some advantages against the “Contest’s Greatest Fighters”.

Currently these are listed as:
Star-lord, Starky, Corvus, Hyperion, Iceman, Archangel, Blade, Gwenpool, Void, Gulk, Magik, Ghost Rider.

What changes would you make to this list in today’s game?

Not wishing to be a killjoy, but a specific list like this is never going to remain current; so specifying individual champions is a flawed design.

If this ability were to have any kind of longevity, the list would need to be updated regularly, and it clearly won't be.

Now this isn't necessarily the best solution, but an alternative that could work with some longevity would be to focus on some measure of the opponent that would otherwise put The Champion at a disadvantage.

So, first off: remove the 's' and change it to "Contest's Greatest Fighter", since it's all about him (The Champion).

Then base Contest's Greatest Fighter on something measurable, like PI, Attack or Champion Rating. For example, activate the ability:
- When the opponent's PI/Attack exceeds The Champion's by 350%
Or
- When the opponent's Champion Rating* exceeds The Champion's by >20

You'd then have the option of carving out a better role for Contest's Greatest Fighter either on Defense, or in Battlegrounds. E.g.
When Attacking
- When the opponent's PI/Attack exceeds The Champion's by 350% (250% in BGs)
Or
- When the opponent's Champion Rating* exceeds The Champion's by >20
When Defending
- Activate unless The Champion's PI/Attack exceeds the Attacker's by 350% (250% in BGs)
Or
- Activate unless The Champion's Champion Rating* exceeds his opponents by >20

*This would be an interesting option, as it would probably make a 6* The Champion better than a 7* version. But it wouldn't be the first time in champ design that lower-ranked versions were permitted to 'punch up' in a disproportionate way - just look at Lady Deathstrike...

And also (to fit with other aspects of his kit), as a mini-update to his Sig ability
- Contest's Greatest Fighter is always active when Attacking or Defending the final node of a quest.

As an alternative to what I've posted above, I wonder is there a way to use game metadata in this ability?

Could Contest's Greatest Fighter be designed to activate against the top-10 Attackers/Defenders in a particular game mode?

Kabam must have some criteria by which the most effective attackers/defenders are ranked, even if it's just the Attackers/Defenders with the highest win rate, or highest DPS.

There must be a list, somewhere...

So, in Battlegrounds, how about if Contest's Greatest Fighter activated against the top-10 non-Mystic Defenders (or the top-10 non-Mystic Attackers, when defending)?

Or if what we want is a tiny bit of relevance for The Champion in a game mode he supposedly runs (The Champion and Aegon literally run Battlegrounds and yet are both massively disadvantaged there!) couldn't we just make BGs fulfil the criteria of being the 'Final node of the quest'.
