My INSANE 5 revive Masterful Mutants Carina Challenge run

Welp, I said I was going to refill my potion stash before taking this on, but I got a little too excited. Guess we're back again for the Mutant half path Carina Challenge! And boy oh boy, this one was truly a run of all time...

Once again, similar to my post on the 10 year full path, I won't be going too into detail regarding the defenders on each path. If you want more specifics, look to my older series of first clear necropolis guides!

The Squad:
7* R3 unduped onslaught with 6* sinister relic
7* R2 unduped sinister with 5* sinister relic
6* R4 sig 140 apoc, no relic (gives sinister 50% more degen damage)
7* R2 unduped havok with 6* storm relic (gives sinister a nice degen on parries)
6* R4 sig 180 prof x, no relic (just some extra synergy)

The Stash:
11823 Units
19 L1 revives
10 L2 revives
5 L3 revives
10 team revives
472 free crystals
A bunch of L4 and L5 potions that I got from opening some free crystals to rebuild my stash

Masteries:
Same setup as my 10 year challenge run, so willpower and no suicides. It's important to note here that I also had max despair, which helps out BIG TIME on Wiccan, so I highly recommend you invest some points into it before you take this challenge on. Stupefy mastery and anything that will increase your parry stun duration will also be very good for sinister.

Journey to Psycho Man:

TRAP NODE ALERT: This one kinda sucks. Everyone on this path has a 50% to evade your mediums, which makes punishing certain special attacks a pain. Use mediums only when the opponent is stunned and be prepared for evasive action should you try to run in and punish a special.

Sauron was annoying at first, but with some practice and a gameplan it isn't too bad with sinister. You basically only want to use heavy attacks to minimize the amount of prowess Sauron gets. If he does go unblockable, wait it out, then go in and try to get them removed via his sp1. Spam your sp1 to apply your degen debuffs and then try to parry and hold heavy as much as possible to keep them paused. A pro tip is that if you have parry, stupefy and perfect block chance maxed out in your masteries, your stuns last long enough that you can hold your heavy twice within a single parry. This allows you to deal way more damage with your degens, though do be ready for a quick parry or dex since your second heavy will most often whiff. Practice a bit on this fight with sinister before you commit and start reviving, spent 2 revives here myself.

Hit Monkey was a pushover with onslaught. Take advantage of the purify from hit monkey's orange stance to get the passive stun and keep your neuroshocks and degens paused. Easy solo here.

Chavez was very annoying because of her dumb AI always throwing heavy attacks and never throwing special attacks. Try not to knock her down too much with sinister as knocking her down twice within 12 seconds triggers her purple dimension. You can block unblockable specials with sinister so don't be afraid if you accidentally push chavez to sp2. Definitely one of the hardest fights on the path. 2 revives with sinister.

Air Walker wasn't terrible. Use onslaught and make sure to block the final hit of air walker's specials or else you'll start taking fun and interactive damage. You can heavy counter his heavy to keep your neuros and degens paused, and you can sometimes heavy counter the sp1 depending on your spacing. Mind the galactus buff timer and this fight shouldn't be too bad. Solo with onslaught.

Captain Britain was a pushover since sinister is immune to inverted controls. 1 revive spent here with sinister.

Wiccan was a joke with onslaught. Get your 10 daunted debuffs on wiccan ASAP, and with max despair you completely block out the regeneration on the sp1. You also don't take any incinerate damage as well which makes this fight a cakewalk. Solo with onslaught.

And to wrap it up, Psycho Man isn't too bad with onslaught, though it is definitely a bit of a problem fight for sinister due to the ability accuracy reduction on your heavies and specials. Complete the prompts and you should get through this one fine. Took off 80% with onslaught, then just threw the team at him and was able to get him down without spending revives.

And that's it! I was honestly shocked by how cheap this run was!

The Final Cost
1 L3 revive
4 L2 revives
20 free crystals
No units (yay again!)
A couple of 30 minute attack, health and champion boosters (learned my lesson from the 10 year anniversary path)

The Rewards
Awakened my 7* rocket from my basic 7* crystal. Could've been worse I guess
Sig stones went into overflow again so I put some into sunspot for prestige.

Final Thoughts and Tips:

1. BOOST. Those 30 minute boosters would've likely saved me around 1-2 revives for the sinister fights, any attack bonus will help him since it massively boosts his degen damage as well.
2. If you plan on using sinister as a primary attacker in this, MAKE SURE YOU BRING APOC AND IDEALLY ALSO HAVOK. That 50% degen damage increase is no joke, and that extra degen debuff can add up big time as well. You don't need to rank those guys so don't forget to bring them along!
3. If you have a 7* Prof X, you can probably use him against Sauron instead of Sinister since he can completely counter the trap node. Definitely not a bad option for other fights in here as well.
4. I didn't use apoc's horseman ability even though sinister lets him start out with 4 charges. Didn't think the benefits were good enough to justify the extra revive.
5. Once again, you'll probably run into a Golden Deadpooloid during your run. Try to take it with sinister since the attack bonus is a very nice boost to his degen damage. He also gets the sub-60 second kill very easily since his degen gets around the damage cap.
6. It appears someone on the forums actually beat me to it in regards to making a guide for this challenge. Go check out @willrun4adonut and his great guide if you get the chance!
7. If you thought this run was insane, we're just getting started. I already ran the Carina's Challengers half path as well, and that one was somehow even more crazy. Stay tuned for that one!

Thanks for reading, hope this helped y'all!

Thanks heaps for the write-up, I'm looking to do this as well and really wasn't sure who to bring along.

Would anyone else be helpful for the 5th position other than Prof X?

Looking at the Synergies - I think Cable or Wags would provide some good synergy benefits. Time to practice!

    Debating:

    Onslaught
    Sinister
    Havok
    Apoc
    Storm

And making storm horseman, or dropping havok if the degen from his parry synergy is not that noticeable for a 2nd apoc.

Storm does almost everyone here very well except Wiccan. Onslaught might also be better than her for Psychoman

I'd say yes because 7* champs get way more enrage charges, especially if you have a R3 or R2 7* onslaught

Wasn’t Chavez a Cul army/God path? And Sauron was the mutant path?
    They're on the same path.

    Thanks, OP

Tagging in my ally mate @Moosetiptronic as we're both looking at a Mutant run...
Yeah, think I need to farm more revives... Been trying sauron and I forgot how much of a pain his unlockable is. Also need to turn off ouchies, so it's a weekend attempt, when I don't need them for AQ.

So no one is using northstar? Lol

Btw my onslaught is only 6* r5a but I have 7* r3 sinister. Who should I use for airwalker?

Who would be better to horesman? I'm guessing Sinister as he takes the harder fights.

    Great guide, thanks.

In your experience, so, a sinister unduped does well? I have a 7*r2 also, but a 6*r4 duped too, and I doubt if it's worth max him.

Yeah he can definitely work unduped. Duped is nice because of the persistent code but it's not needed

Our of everyone on this team, sinister is definitely the way to go. If you plan on using prof x or storm they are also good options to use it on

    Stryfe viable?

Stryfe could definitely work since he completely counters the trap node. You'll probably want a 7* and make him a horseman but he can definitely do it

5* sinister relic was duped, so I had a chance to get an additional bleed to transfer with sinister.
