What happened to Beta Ray Bill?

I remember the hype around him when he was first released, we saw the insane damage, the utility, etc. Months have passed and no one is using him. I know some of the BG metas may not have favored him but still, I don't see anyone using him whatsoever. Has he simply been forgotten or are people sleeping on him currently?

I pulled him few hours ago, I want to know why too, blud just disappeared.

He's another victim of Kabam making new attackers mid and too safe, they don't want to risk anything OP attackers, which is kinda sad.

the previous few BG metas were not good for him

he wasn’t made to be a BG champ anyways

I have been using him a LOT

sp2 then sp1 loop does the job for most tech champs

he is my go to counter for FAM, Red skull, Peni etc this victory track meta

mine is unduped r2

I still like mine, was able to use him for quite a few lanes in the 9.2 beta. He is tricky trying to get comfortable with his light attacks but once you get him down he does light work. It’s a shame that bg meta do not favour him as much.

He has a few things that he can do really well and some great damage, he's the best option for a few matches and that's about where he lands

I don't enjoy using him at all, and that is more just how his playstyle feel as opposed to how good he is.

Shocks on light attacks seem to rarely get placed. I know there is a low chance, but I do multiple full combos of light attacks and have no shocks apply. Armor buff removal seems less impressive than on first glance, since only the first Medium does anything. So if you are in a armor control matchup (like a Red Skull), the amount of shortened combos or backdraft intercepts and how much power is gained, that makes for a longer fight than it should be. Charging heavy is a gamble with the Defender AI behaving inconsistently. I know his specials are designed to take into account the timer of the shock, but I feel my hair turning gray just waiting for his special animations to end.

He does great damage with his SP2-SP1 rotation. But it just doesn't feel very smooth to play, since I have to tack on several seconds of charging my heavy before my SP2, and then several seconds of medium attacks before my SP1. There are a bunch of other champions where everything feels like it flows much better (Eg. Vox, my favorite Cosmic of the past two years)

Hulkling and cge set up huge expectations for cosmics, so anything slightly below than them is considered mid.

There’s nothing wrong with him. He’s a good champ, I think the just metas haven’t really asked us to use him. His pulverize to remove armor ups might be more useful with new tech champs. Sentinel is immune to armor break but not pulverize, maybe we will see more situations/defenders that are countered by pulverize.

Fun in vanilla matchups. When you get into a complex fight, the demands of his rotation / timers just become too aggravating. Not to mention his huge burst can be kneecapped by damage caps in content like Necro / Carinas.

I expect he will find a niche (or several) over time but he’s not going to be a heavily used champ for me.

He’s not a nuke option or even a decent defender in BG, so he won’t be ranked at my account. He also doesn't have a niche function, where he's the only option for a troublesome defender, or an attacker who counters many defenders better than other cosmics. So he remains a good attacker, who unfortunately stands in the shadow of other cosmics and collects dust.

I actually favor him for this BG season’s meta because of the heavy activated grit buff and his shock passives that don’t get purified on dash

Dazzler actually looks to be good tho on the bright side (might be why the sudden shift of value of champ they put in the pass)

The rng shocks are inessential compared to the guaranteed sp2 shocks which was the intended way to build them

I'm assuming that they are meant to be used, but not for stacking to cash out. They provide damage over time and burst damage outside of specials and work well with recoil, but like I said, 10% chance is too low.

The bigger reason in my opinion is there are at least 5 cosmic champs that bring more to the table and easier to use. Speaking for myself, I'd rather use others.

Too many op cosmic that overshadow BRB, he needs to place shock on opponents (if they are shock immune, his damage is greatly gimped).. place shock on opponent, sp2 has greater chance to place more shock.. medium medium to make the shock expire faster (do this when you have one bar of power.. as the shock trickle down fire away on sp1 to do great damage.. repeat cycle until opponent has zero hp.

he is better awaken, the damage is boosted by sigs level.
