Is spiral broken?

Just got a 6 star Spiral, and what I’m assuming is a glitch keeps happening, where the opponent blocks in the middle of my special attack, even when I don’t throw it into their block. Why is this happening?

I'm having the exact same issue, but with champions like gladiator and Killmonger as well. Champs who have pauses between hits in their specials seem to be getting blocked pretty consistently and it's costing me fights.
