7r3 DOT vs 7r3 Hard Hitter

Help me understand to make a better choice. I don't have r3 yet. I'm on my way to r3 Silk and Guardian, and maybe White Tiger/White Magneto due to catalyst expire.
Im still wondering whether to r3 DOT champ or Hard Hitter champ. Whose benefit more in terms of damage? Do you have example?

I said slow in terms of animation, the gameplay. Well, recently I just compared him to my Silk. You know she's so smooth, so agile and looks fast, so yeah I felt that my wags relatively slow, lol
- It deals direct damage, bypassing both physical and energy resistance.
- No champion is completely immune to it—some may have resistance to Degen, but it typically requires meeting specific conditions (e.g., Hulk's resistance scales as he loses health, or Spider-Ham needing his charges).
- DoTs can also bypass nodes that restrict damage, such as Rage or Safeguard, and they’re especially useful for saving time against champions with long animations. Even if you're stuck baiting specials, you'll still be dealing some damage.
That said, I still think hard-hitters are better investments. Their damage isn’t limited by immunities, resistance varies by champion, and crit-based damage is often superior since it bypasses some armor and resistances. In your particular case, Silk is undoubtedly the best option. She hits very hard and has unique utilities, such as not generating buffs with her abilities, making her ideal for matchups where buffs are a liability (e.g., Dormammu or Mojo, depending on the node). She has easy access to knockdowns and an ability that lets her evade attacks without needing Dexterity. Any regular health pool in the game dies from one SP3 rotation, and in Battlegrounds, an SP2 is often enough.
I say this as someone with WT and Guardian at R3. WT hits hard and has some utility, but she needs 5/5 Deep Wounds to maximize her bleeds, especially against Serpent. As for Guardian, he's one of the few R3s I regret ranking up, I don't use him as much as I expected because of how the meta tends to be.
Wags (White Magneto) is an interesting option but situational. He’d be a solid choice if:
- He’s awakened.
- You have a high-rarity Gambit relic.
Gambit relic makes his damage more consistent. Even though it’s not obvious, the projectiles in his specials deal physical damage, so they benefit from the relic. That's what makes wags pretty interesting, he can deals degen instead of bleed against metal opponents. Also, his heavy can hit really hard too especially when he places armor break from sp1.
In addition, he has a cool synergy for attack boost and passive stun I guess.
Bonus points, well-known marvel character alongside cool outfit, and ofc, flying.
But it's kinda rare to see him as a r3, idk, maybe because a lot of tier list out there not putting him on a top tier?
My Silk still at r2 and I see a lot of improvement from r1, I can't wait to see her capability when I r3 her. Beside her utility, playstyle, I like her because I learned that she has a one of highest attack in game (r3) alongside big health based on auntmai.
Speaking of wt, she has a similar stat with Silk and has high damage potential. I like her playstyle even though it's kinda risky for me, but very fun to use.
Guardian, oh man, he is so cool. He just proved to me that he is worth it. Nice utility, great damage, autoblock, easy gameplay, I like him. I don't really know about meta because I'm not in a top tier bg or aw so yeah.
So yeah, those 4 + sinister are my top champs, all unawakened. I don't have many options atm, some great champs but I'm not interested, while those precious catalyst just overflow..
