The loss of fun this Banquet Event

As a player who has been around in the game since Electro was the hot new champ, I wanted to put my thoughts out on the Grand banquet event this year and why it has been frustrating.
After taking a couple of year hiatus, I came back to the contest two Christmases ago... And the banquet event was something new and exciting. I enjoyed opening up the crystals and pulled my first six star, as I had lost my previous account and this was a great way to jump start it.
Last year, I went into the banquet as a cavalier ranked player. Knowing I would enjoy the banquet. I used some of my saved units and part of my Christmas bonus... And had the fun of opening those crystals. It was fun to find out if you got one of those lucky high prize crystals, in my case, I got a seven star Kang and even another seven star or two from the high-end prizes.
The fun was in seeing what those crystals would produce, the mystery that is similar to opening booster packs in a card game.
This year, that fun was lost. I really like most of the milestone prizes, and as a paragon, I have significantly improved my champion list with those tiered prizes this year.... But after opening 60 plus Superior crystals I never got any real thrills. I never got any awesome openings... And that took a lot of the fun out of it. The problem with milestone prizes is that you know what you're getting, there was no thrill of getting "lucky."
This, I think a lot of fun has been lost for us. Upper mid level players. The loyal players who do spend money but are not whales. And I think it was a bit of deaf fix to just give more prizes out to the highest spenders, when the problem was there was no fun in this event.
That is my two cents, I will continue to play the game and enjoy it, but I will likely not put a side part of my Christmas bonus or save more than a couple of thousand units for the next banquet event if things stay the same.
But thank you, kabam, for all of the great giveaways during this holiday season. Season. You have been very generous on that front. 👍
