Communications Post-Miike/Jax

To the MCoC Team:

I think we all understand that recent departures have hamstrung the team’s ability to be everywhere in all channels giving full communication all the time.

But the current model of having forums, in game, Discord, streams, the MCoC site and all the ancillary creator channels offering parts of the whole message makes it difficult at times to figure out what is going on or what to do in game.

A suggestion: streamline how you communicate to us. If it’s mainly via stream, then please provide a transcript (with any accompanying graphics) for those of us who don’t have time to knock off midday and watch a stream during the week. If it’s here, then commit to being present here. If it’s Discord (and please don’t let it be Discord), then do that.

Tl;dr: Please fix the fragmented communication system. It sometimes feels like a scavenger hunt to figure out how to play the game.

There is a much larger Kabam presence on the discord, and not just from the community team. If you care to sift through all the noise like you’re in global.

Makes sense given how it’s being promoted vs the forums but it still would be nice to get back to more presence on the forums.

How about a compromise any communications on discord be also posted here simple as a copy paste. Frankly other devs that social management instead of full write ups post links in other social channels to the official posts on a website or in this case the forums, a prior established community hub

and for the love of Stan Lee, can someone please clean up the stickied threads and remove the redundant ones?!

We have the option to remove stickied threads from our view, so this is ignored.
    Agree

But some users on Forums for so many years, just dont know that

They only need to click on the gear to the right to remove
Dude… this is hands down your best post ever. Thank you for this as I didn’t know either.

I share this sentiment, and even went as far as creating a thread months back asking if the Forums were dead… I think based on the Banquet it’s safe to say that for the community, the Forums remain alive for many of us looking at the engagement then.

But outside of of Crashed and the occasional Rex or Pinwheel sighting the forums no longer seem to be the priority for the communication team, which is a shame as it used to be the place to go to get all the details.

Nothing against expanding the teams presence to other more popular channels that attract new players to the game but most social platforms are inferior communication tools. Limited either by noise (Discord), character limits (X), or entertainment prioritization (twitch). The forums back in the Miike days, even if there was some flaws in communication style, never lacked for the detailed information needed for Side Quests, Events, Rewards, etc.

It’d be nice to get back to that. So couldn’t agree more with Dr. Zola here.

One thing I think we have been doing a lot more lately is building up the website with a lot of that information (it was one of our glorious reveals after all haha). Would it be helpful/still feel like appropriately addressing the forums if we made threads for this content but linked out to those pages? Or is the preference for everything to be natively in the forums, curious on how folks feel about this
As long as it’s (1) primarily somewhere and (2) there’s opportunity to ask questions and/or interact.

Website is beautiful. But I can’t get a Pinwheel or Crashed commentary there.

A link would be perfectly fine, whether it is pushed onto the forums or through an in-game message. Information doesn't need to be posted in multiple places as long as those multiple places are told there is new information and are pointed toward it.

Any announcements we make to the discord should be cross posted here. As in posts in the announcements channel, though I understand that doesn't encompass other replies in other places in the server. If those announcement posts aren't making it over that's a problem and something I want to fix.

Lots of good and understandable feedback here. Absolutely is the case that we are in more places than ever because we want to provide more options for a greater variety of players. That has admittedly come with a division of attention that y'all are understandably pointing out. While it may be tricky to match the levels of response when the forums were really the one spot for communication, I am working to get that level up for sure.

Try to tidy up the stickies here and there, will take a stab at it now for a proper end of week cleanup.
I'll throw out another request for bringing banners back to the forums. The amount of posts we get about things like AW season delays could be minimized with the occasional banner.
100% understand that and agree...the forums are a bit of a pain on the backend for stuff like that but it is a really useful tool that we should take advantage of more when the situation demands
What are the team’s capabilities for posting videos? Specifically, I’ve stumbled into mistakes because I don’t have time to tune into livestreams midday. It would be great to be able to watch when able or to have some kind of transcripts/down and dirty summary equipped with whatever visual aids you used on stream.

As an old-time forums denizen, I sometimes feel like I’m waiting for the newspaper to arrive when everyone else is already five stories ahead via the interwebs.

    Dr. Zola
All livestreams should exist as VODs on both twitch and YouTube, do you mean like a cut down/condensed version?

Super fair, thinking pinned threads in general with maybe an intro and the link so that folks can get the information in the pretty place and then also have room to ask questions here. Sounds like a solid plan
    This all of this.
