Disappointed in Kabam and the Sigil and expired items situation

As a paying customer who has put a significant amount of money (Kabam can see how much I've put in), I'm very disappointed. I spent a lot of money on the holiday events and a number of my items are going to expire that I need to use up, but can't because my max load has been lowered because I can't renew the old Sigil.

Not sure why they couldn't think of a better way to do this. I'm not sure of whoever thought about this idea at Kabam, but they need to re-look at how they make changes to the game and think about it before releasing a change. And recently, they've introduced a lot of bugs. It was fairly stable for a long time.

Anyways, you (Kabam) can probably tell I'm going to spend a lot less than before because of all these bad decisions you make.

One would be making a good post about how this is not handled right, explain why and propose an alternative. Like people did with the arena express issue.
The other route is just criticizing about the money spent and think Kabam is your employee and demand things.

Well, if they change the base 7* Sig stone storage capacity from 100 up to 125 then everyone has the Sigil capacity, but without a sigil while it's shut down.

900 Units and extra Sigil Credits is enough to compensate. That's much more than we would have gotten for $10. They're changing the way the feature works. It's impossible to accommodate to every individual grievance is affected.
Are they dealing with peoples' money? Yes. Do they need to do better? There's always room for improvement. Is it worth getting on a soap box for the cost of a couple coffees? No.

My understanding is there is such a technical issue. If there was no technical issues, there would have been no need to have a transition period in the first place: they could have just made the new program start in parallel with the old one and have people transition to it on a cutover day. The fact that they need a two week period in between programs implies there are a lot of moving parts that need to be quiesced or removed completely during the transition, and the fact that the game client completely broke when one of those things didn't happen perfectly when the old program was brought down implies those things are non-trivial things.

Meanwhile you come out with the genius idea of making it available to everyone for free. If it was possible to have it run it why on earth would they turn it off for people who already paid?

They really don't care either way. Just be happy they decided to compensate for the downtime. They could have just took it down and given everyone an extra week or two of the new Sigil with no extra compensation

You would expect Sigil subscribers to, all things being equal, be more likely to pay attention to such things. The percentage of players who paid attention to and understood an unexpected inventory space fluctuation would be significantly lower. The problems some Sigil subscribers are having now managing resources would be thrown to the entire playerbase, and a lot more players would eventually be in an uproar.

We’ll agree to disagree I don’t think it’s actually impossible as it’s code at the end of the day however the point 3000 made implies it wouldn’t be without its complexities or risk so the downtime is probably the safer issue. That said I think the entire exercise provides feedback for them to consider for future updates to the sigil.

You are actually arguing or questioning someone who has the knowledge in that area when its obvious you got none...
Your belief is they could have given sigil to everyone, and questioning turning it off for the people who paid for it.
Do you buy the sigil? Cause it seems you don't understand what's in it and why it has to be shutdown to actually overhaul.
Its not a matter of being a developer, a programmer or knowing code. It's plain common sense.

Kabam have the ability to push an in game message when we open the app. I imagine those would have the highest engagement across the multiple different announcement platforms if such an announcement was actually needed. It’s totally hypothetical though the concept of free trials isn’t new and many of the world’s largest companies do it successfully. My point remains that it wouldn’t be impossible to do it if they wanted to and they’ve missed out on an opportunity to keep the sigil users in the position they paid for and gives hundreds of thousands of other players the ability to trial the benefits. Albeit all the recent visual glitches and gameplay issues cement the reality that the code the game operates on is in a messy state and implementing such an idea would be challenging.

If you mean it’s you who had knowledge in the area then why don’t you start posting replies with some substance rather than trying to bait an argument. I frankly couldn’t care less if you agreed with my earlier point but the sigil issue has clearly been an emotive subject the last week and Kabam will be taking all feedback on board my earlier point is something to be considered. If you have some technical knowledge that would be helpful and actually add to the conversation I think any lurkers reading this would find that helpful. I’ve already conceded after DNA posted his thoughts that the idea to put the sigil on hold was likely the right one due to complexities and risks of the alternative.

Unless there is a technical reason why they couldn’t give everyone access to the sigil (free trial) while we waited for the new one it really does seem like a huge open goal.
... How are they going to give free access to everyone on something they shut down to overhaul it. Think about it.
Pretty sure I said if it was technically possible. I wouldn’t presume to know but if it was feasible for them to do that while they worked on building the new sigil then that is a big missed opportunity.

Increasing inventory space for everyone during the transition period would have the potential to cause problems because the vast majority of players aren't familiar with the Sigil or how expanded inventory works or how soft caps work. A lot of players would just see their inventory expand, then later contract, for apparently no reason.

You would expect Sigil subscribers to, all things being equal, be more likely to pay attention to such things. The percentage of players who paid attention to and understood an unexpected inventory space fluctuation would be significantly lower. The problems some Sigil subscribers are having now managing resources would be thrown to the entire playerbase, and a lot more players would eventually be in an uproar.
