They're just about always permanent, but depends on severity. There's no such thing as just messing around if you've been terrible enough to get a ban.

Definitely missed that part. I do wish they just banned players outright instead of just chat ban. If you're that awful to people that you need to be silenced, you should lose more than just a fairly useless chat privilege.

And yet no one ever gets banned for their behavior unless someone takes the retaliatory action of reporting them. I've been banned for replying to heinous comments with heinous comments and the person I replied to was never banned for their rampant bigotry.

The moderation of global is a joke as is the current system to implement the bare minimum moderation they're willing to do.

And yet it caught you.

No moderation is perfect, but just like we don’t catch all criminals, we don’t catch all global bad behavior. Reporting is not “retaliatory” in that sense any more than reporting crimes is a retaliatory act against criminals. It is an important step towards catching them.

You might think responding to bad behavior is in some way better than “snitching” on them, but Kabam doesn’t want people escalating situations. You might be under the impression that your acts were not as bad because you were “only’ responding, but in fact escalating a situation is in many ways worse. If you had just reported them like you were supposed to, then it is more likely they would be gone and you would still have global privileges. Which is what Kabam wants to have happen.

You were not banned because the system is broken. You were banned because the system worked as intended. Banning people who escalate or perpetuate situations is as much a priority to Kabam as banning instigators.
