Dazzler is WILDLY good
This is by no means a hot take but by god am I so happy I picked her up on the platinum pass.
Firstly the damage is just nuts, classic L1/L2 cycle in battlegrounds (or L1/L1/L2 for some of the tankier opponents) is enough, so she’s very capable of 30-50 second fights there. Add in the repeatability of this loop and she’s a top option for just about every piece of content outside Necro.
Secondly the dazzling dash mechanic is so clutch and follows the same philosophy as Morbius and others where you can dash into final hits on specials to get really quick punishes. Add in the Passive stun when striking block and you’ve got a really aggressive champion who can punish almost anything.
As a mutant the only real defensive roadblocks she faces are Sentinel, Red Skull and Fant Man, outside of those 3 she can take most (if not all) meta relevant defenders with ease.
The dodging mechanic is also crazy useful, serpent and Photon both get neutralised by this. She isn’t an ideal Serpent counter in BGs (just cause she has no counter to the cheat death mechanic so you’re looking at 2 L2 rotations) but for longer form/larger scarier serpents she can just full dex that L2 and finish on a lovely full yellow bar. Now she’s just come out so not many people have fully capitalised on this, but whilst dodging she gets a little more of an invulnerable window than other champs, combined with a well timed dazzling dash and you can counter specials like Winter Soldiers L2 without getting hit once (for that particular one I find Dodge, then rapidly Dodge again, then dash in activating falter negates the whole special). In this regard she’s not as good as Tigra but with enough practise/skill definitely worth looking into as a strategy for those pesky long specials.
Finally her sig, I don’t have it unlocked myself but turning off all physical damage during hits is wild, and unfortunately blows negasonic out of the water, filling part of her niche (not to say she’s useless now at all). So many nodes and champions rely on some form of damage reflection as their main defensive threat so to counter all of that is just insane.
I think because she is so new people haven’t yet discovered just how good she is, but hopefully as more and more people get their hands on her and play her she really begins to shine. Having said all this she probably won’t be my first R4 champion even if I get a mutant gem, she’s good enough at R3 and the only let down about her is that she has minimal defensive value, coming into a mutant class with the likes of onslaught, mr sinister and Deadpool X force she’s got to fight for her place (imagine telling someone in 2020 that sinister and DPX are top of the mutant class 🤣🤣) but I think she more than deserves status as one of the top 10 champions in the game right now
