Can someone explain to my why this was not counted as an intercept?

We both attacked.

Ares’s weapon is clearly drawn like he’s begun his attack. I was not struck by ares yet it didn’t count as an intercept. Explanation?

For it to be considered a light intercept, you DON'T need to intercept their medium with your light. That isn't the requirement for it to be an intercept. In all actuality you need to intercept their DASH with a light. So if they have started the attack but aren't dashing and you intercept it, it won't count. I don't know how you managed to do that in the first place but okay.

As others have said intercepting is specifically defined as interrupting a Dash attack. If you’re starting too close to the opponent they’ll do a standing medium instead, and while that can be interrupted it’s not actually an intercept.

    Easiest tell….

Because it landed and the defender didn’t phase through it to hit you.

    (I’m joking. Sort of)
