I’m gearing up for my first lane of Epoch of Pain.

Any and all advice and recommendations on champions or paths or anything else is appreciated.

So far, KT1 has the best tutorial I could find.

Thanks in advance!

its a great idea to prepare a stacked stash of revives and potions. I'd say when ur free, try to auto fight through RoL for the healing pots

Be prepared to use revives. You'll need them for the paths, and you'll need them for Ares and that's okay. The sooner you accept it, the better your experience will be. In still coming to terms with reviving on paths myself which causes a lot of frustration

This is perhaps the best advice. It is terribly frustrating, but you cannot let it affect your ability to play well. I found myself demoralized after a recent run that went badly and didn’t pick up the game for a couple of days.

Have a plan. Double check it. Make sure you know your approach going into each fight. Don’t get down if you don’t play great.

Grind health potions like no tomorrow. I auto farmed ROL while watching movies for a week and had well over a thousand in stash that I used with daily crystal pots for exploration. Ares doesn’t have a high attack rating at all so healing to full every time is super helpful especially on your first run where you have to learn the timings. Even with his ability to degen health to match his I was healing to at least 75% anyways particularly in his final phase because it’s much easier to make a mistake at the beginning of an attempt. I can’t tell you how many times I mistimed the initial opening intercept to start the fight, part of the first special or the first post special objective that would’ve killed me and just been a wasted revive if I didn’t heal up

I swear some people with insanely high unit use just neglected potion farming. You can literally tank half a dozen full Ares SP1s with a rank 3 7* if max boosted. It not only gives you a higher number of attempts at learning his special but keeps the flow going that’s really important in a fight like this.

When you’re doing your first couple ares fights use single revives instead of team. You keep stacking charges when you keep going with the same champ so you can get through just by chopping him down with your initial damage output.

Don’t get too frustrated. On my life I didn’t fully evade a SINGLE ares special attack on my first run and just got through it by chipping him down like 5% health at a time. I used a total of 2 revives on my last 3 runs with 2 solos using a rank 3 dazzler and photon

Ares is currently my favourite boss fight in the game and I certainly didn’t feel that way after my first run. Stay patient and good luck

If you feel you want to rage quit, do that. Don't exit just take a break lol

Everything has been covered pretty well I feel in the elaborate videos but I just couldn't find my timing in the last two phases for the specials.
I resorted to trying to predict which special he will throw. Worked out about 50% of times lol

My only trick to Ares as assuming he was going to throw his sp2; it does much more damage than the sp1, and so I automatically went for that pattern and just forgot the sp1 pattern. I managed to do it a few times, and if he uses an sp1, the damage is less in comparison.

Just had to tell myself Dex (kick), Parry, Parry, Light, Dex, Dex, Up every single time lol

I don't understand how people can struggle remembering both.

sp1 and sp2 are nearly identical.

Sp2, you just take the first dodge from sp1, and move it to the end...then swipe up. Everything else is the same.
