We are tier 3 and have been moved to Expert Map, and it clearly states that only tier 2 is supposed to be taking this map. I understand the stakes are low and this is off season, but in addition to this we enlisted for 3 Battlegroups, and we are only down for 2. Most of our players dont even have defenders placed for this map as it wasn’t even in our scope, so now we lose a valiant couples crystal and loyalty. I know we won’t be compensated for this so i am just asking for this to be fixed ASAP because there is a lot of planning and a lot of nodes to be familiarized with, and this robs 10 members the opportunity to get in the practice they need.

Better off just having everyone place the same defenders in the map

Thats what we are doing now. The default map is set to the challenger map for us because we’ve never reached tier 2 before, and now its suddenly bringing us there.

These guys didn’t even know they were playing this map based off their missing defenders. And they are a platinum 2 alliance, they wouldn’t leave their map empty.

Still doesn’t explain how we enlisted for 3 Battlegroups (i did this immediately after the last wars matchmaking began) and we still ended up with 2 BGs only this war.

Recommend you change from auto place to manual and have everyone place on t3 and t2 map and set bans for each, you are on the Line between and this can happen in season

Always had it set to manual, we just need to have people place defenders in expert map. We have Challenger map (our tier) filled out already. This is just news to me that we can match a t2 alliance since this never happened to me past 8 years I’ve played war, so good to learn now this is a possibility before season.

Doing only a 2 BG War, there are greater variations in WR between matching teams, because there are less alliances running only 2 BG.

So as others said, even if your own alliance is still a Tier-3 alliance (based on WR), the WR of your opponent is shown in your pic as much higher (well, much higher difference that probably a 3 BG war would encounter maybe), and so if they are in Tier -2, the game flips a coin to determine which of your 2 different maps the war is played on.

That is the reason everyone can place defenders in both a (+) and (-) potential Tier map from what your (Current) Tier is.

If you think maybe something is up with your opponent, having a lot of empty nodes. Maybe they also have moved up recently and never placed in there yet. Or maybe they are a 3 BG ally during season, and cleared out their BG's for off-season so anyone can participate who wants to, and so have a sparse defense ???

As others have correctly explained, the higher match is normal, or at least something that does happen from time to time and has been that way for a very long time. As to the different BG matching, I suspect the most likely explanation is Quack’s, as the on/off season thing is a very common mistake (I’ve done it in the past myself).
