Is it just me or are the Eidol Designs trying too hard??

The Eidols from the moment i saw them seemed like the designers are trying too hard, there's no subtlety to them , they're trying to fit wayy too much into a model. Worst of all they don't even look like legitimate champs, they look AI Generated.
Is it just me that finds them sticking out like a sore thumb among other champs?

They are different style than the classic mcoc designs. More like Mobile Legends type. That doesn't mean they are AI.AI is slop. This is not.

Well that kind of design doesn't really seem like it would fit this game, big words, I know. Who am I to imply a champ doesn't fit into the contest, but imo these champ models are being over-designed

I think they’re ok but they are a little overdesigned. Personally I’m neutral on their existence as of now

I think their design is part of their storytelling. What we’ve seen of their characters in EQ dialogue shows them to be supremely arrogant and vain characters. I think the over the top design style is supposed to further that point, that it intentionally clashes with the style of the game because they are inherently alien and hostile to the universe of the game.

Art team has always been on point, I don’t think they’d break from a formula that’s always worked without good cause. And I think the visual storytelling is that cause.

Their Eidol title tells me that they're going to be different. One of it's definitions is "a god". So of course there's going to be something to seperate them from the usual.

But I think there are more serious things to be concerned about in the game right now than how the Eidols look. .

I *could* say they should tone down the designs since they are a bit too complex but if they can justify it like Civil Warrior, Ægon and Guillotine's then hell yeah.

Tho on the topic of overdesigning, I think there's a brewing issue there since I also noticed Cyclops is a bit too complex than he should be for no reason

There are plenty of cosmic entities and musical beings in the comics that look just like the eidols. They have a clear design philosophy and so far they both fit within that and feel distinct from other characters. I think it's fine

They should stand out as much as possible. According to the lore, they and the Founders are the very first colonizers of Battlerealm. Therefore, in practice, these are not Eidoles have a strange designs, these are other champions that don't look like them, so-called violators their peace, a wound that needs to be healed.

I think they are meant to be godlike entities. Like think of the Olympians, Asgardians, other beings like that. I think their design is intended to be over the top to represent their godliness

I wasn't sure if the next Eidol would be unique or just a slight difference to Isophyne, but pleasantly surprised by the Eidol coming in April(Lumatrix) and intrigued what the other ones will look like who are still to come.

That’s fair. There are lots of complex and crappy character designs in the comics. Marvel, IMO, has often struggled with “god-like” characters.

But regardless, there’s still good and bad. The latest Eidol looks like a set of random pieces of kind of techy, kind of mystical, nonsense. When I look at a character, I want their design to tell me something about them. I don’t get anything from the eidol designs except — as someone put it in another thread — Final Fantasy rejects.

They look like designs in search of a story / character.

I personally don't like the Eidols. I'm here for Marvel characters, and the Eidols feel even further removed from Marvel than their other original characters.

I don't like their designs, I don't care to chase them, and I wish their slots were going to Polaris or Daken or Spider-Woman or Nico Minoru instead. But that's just my own personal opinion. I don't find it to be a "flaw" in the game or am pissed at Kabam or anything - in fact, I love that they're having fun flexing their muscles creating characters for the lore of their own game. It's just not for me.

There will always be something we don't like, and there will always be that one person beginning for that one thing they love ("Pls add Thrasher" guy). I cried (mostly to myself) about how crappy Phoenix was and how we haven't had a proper Jean Grey in ten years. Now, not only did I get one wish answered, I shockingly got both.

I think there are right and justified things to be upset about (bugs, AI, design issues, monetary tactics) and things that we just should let go and move past. Now, if the game trends in this Eidol-type character for the future, that's something to address be vocal about. But it's their 10 year anniversary and they're adding what, four of these? I don't love it but I'm just going to focus my energy on other things.

I'm not a fan of the design. I think they look like Space Xianxia cover art characters x Final Fantasy summons, but more extra. Shoutout to the designers, though. Not everything can be Bahamet or Glykhan. Those Ouroboros designs are peak MCOC.

I don't think it's bad and I appreciate what they're trying to do with making them look like they're tied to the Battlerealm. Especially with the colors.

Isophyne was a complete miss tbh, especially because her main gimmick(serpent counter) is locked behind her sig and because they couldn't have picked a worse time to release her. Spiral does what she does and is overall a much better champ.

I thought people would put her on defence cause of the fractured power power (random specials) and wonky animations but I can't really spot that many of them, idk if it's cause of the meta and a good meta might make her shine but rn she's mid

Eidols are an interesting concept.

I’m in the minority that really likes the design of the new Eidol, they look really cool, however I’ve never had an interest in them, for me it was more of a disappointment when we wasn’t getting a proper champion to conclude 2024, and I see them repeating the same for December 2025.

I’d rather have a more less known champion (I guess like Gentle or Dust, don’t take offence to that lovers of those characters) than any of the eidols if I’m being honest.

I’m not mad at original characters, but to hype a champion like Isophyne, and to be worse than expected, it’s a bit unfortunate. Cheelith is a great example, good concept, good execution. If I’m being honest the executed the Eidols poorly, if Isophyne was fantastic, our attitudes would be different, but I have no hype for the remaining Eidols, and I’ll be more dissapointed they’ve taken a spot of a champion we need, cough cough Cloak and Dagger etc etc
