Scammed and banned. Sounds about right and fair.
But if we are taking Nanatsu no Taizai (Seven deadly sins) in account, here as well there was close call between Pride and wrath.
Meanwhile Kabam's Gluttony imo is strongest followed by pride then greed.
Honestly, this is a lesson the OP needs to learn. He claims he thought the merc was “legit.” He doesn’t think there’s anything wrong with paying someone else to push progression for him in a game. This is cheating. The fact he doesn’t seem to be aware that paying someone else to play the game for him is cheating means something has gone horribly wrong somewhere in his past. This was not a mistake. This was not a slip up. This was not a casual error in judgment. This is someone who thinks nothing of cheating, because he’s completely unaware of what cheating even is. Better he learn now when the stakes don’t matter, than when they do and the consequences are significantly more severe.
You know, once upon a time that wasn’t actually true. Players were far more forgiving of cheaters, because they thought the only thing they were cheating was Kabam. However, over the past ten years players have come to realize that cheaters are cheating the players not Kabam. The rewards that cheaters get come out of the pockets of the rest of us, not Kabam. Kabam does not lose money on rewards that cheaters get. Rather, cheating simply makes rewards harder to get in the long run, which means it is the players who play fair that end up losing.
That might be a subtle game design notion, but the far simpler one that’s much easier to understand is cheaters take rank rewards away from legitimate arena grinders, they take rewards away from legit alliance war alliances, they take rewards away from legit battlegrounds players. As the game has evolved more competitive play modes, the players in turn have become increasingly hostile to players who think they are above the rules, because it is so much more obvious who cheaters are hurting.
Not to mention the fact that the forums itself has to constantly deal with people who claim to have been banned without cheating, only to discover that surprise, cheaters are also liars. I guess the liars are worse than the blatantly oblivious, but not by much.
