I chose spiral from a nexus over rintrah and shathra, hardest sell ever. Shudve gone with shathra as I got rintrah today.
Literally bro. Everyone who actually has spiral and used her knows she's pretty mid. I got her from xmas gift nexus (other options were new brb and a dud dupe) so my choice was pretty clear, But I still regret r3ing her. My fingers can count how many times I have used her in bgs in past 3 months, never used her in a single AW or quest. Easily my least used r3(out of 24). It's not like she's bad but her playstyle is very tough and everything on her kit kinda focus on countering serpent, so she has lesser utility against others.
On the other hand pulled shathra recently and I'm enjoying her a lot. Her power gain is insane and she can throw a lot of specials, her buff control is very unique as well. Definitely a better option.

Notice how you can barely find spiral vs non cosmics on YouTube??? Exactly
I do think spiral has better damage than shathra however, Shathra will probably do more for you as she is also consistent against non cosmics. Not to mention spiral has a very strict rotation due to the inbuilt mix master and she will not work well with complicated nodes.

Medium light medium is not a hard playstyle man
It's not hard until you reach 10-12 debuffs then it becomes pretty hard to reach 15, needs a lot of ai co op. Also if you party the opponent, I usually use LmLm.

Still learning Spiral, but if I had to choose for you, Shathra by a mile...
Just admit you either don’t have shathra or don’t know how to play her
She's great at what she does but shathra better
