Kabam’s biggest deficiency for the average player
I’ve been in a P3/ top 250 alliance for several years, playing regularly for 9 years. I’m not the greatest/most skilled player, but I’ve spent quite a bit of time playing this game, so I feel like I have a decent grasp of why the average player may feel burnout with this game.
Most of the prevalent voices that influence change in MCOC are the highest level players, the ones with YouTube channels and deep wallets. They are absolutely invaluable to the MCOC economy and community, however I think that by focusing solely on their grievances, Kabam has lost some insight into the average player experience - the ones who can’t complete endgame content itemless, the people with full time jobs that play the game daily as a de-stressor (sorry if I’m getting preachy).
What’s missing now that wasn’t a few years ago? A lack of 2-5 revive content. To be clear, when I say this, I’m not referring to the endgame content that’s being released… some ridiculous event like Summer of Sodomy where 200 of the best players in the world flex about how it can be completed itemless. This is NOT 2-5 revive content for the average player. I completed one path in Epoch of Pain and it was miserable. Congrats to the GOATS of this game for soloing Ares, but that wasn’t my experience.
Drop the egos about creating impossible content to appease a small percentage of players and make content that is engaging to your broader base.
Release content that players outside of a Masters level alliance can relate to and ignore any criticism from the people who dedicate their lives to this game that say “this was too easy”. It’s supposed to be easy for them… they play 6 hours a day.
Currently, I’ve been selling revives (which hurts). This isn’t because I’ve finished every form of endgame content that’s currently available, it’s because I don’t want to deal with some masochistic content that makes me feel inadequate on a game I play as a stress reliever.
Maybe this doesn’t strike a chord with anyone else and I’m just being whiny, but damn… I just want some content that’s mildly challenging but still enjoyable, and there hasn’t been any for quite some time.
