Will def be taking the feedback. Idea with them is to add a fun additional layer of activity and engagement with the stream....did not anticipate twitch not having the drops on, kind of changed the equation a bit. Regardless though, appreciation the feedback
So this makes it what, the 4th time since Twitch drops have been introduced and the 4th time they haven't worked correctly?
How many times do you guys have to fail to realize that something needs to change?
I wanna push back on this slightly. It is true that some players had issues with drops previously. However, from what we can see the majority of folks were able to collect twitch drops without an issue in previous iterations. The (still important) minority that had issues is something we want to work to improve on, but fundamentally the system worked.
This time the campaign was not live at the correct time, which is a separate issue and one we will review and make sure is corrected.
Ultimately, codes or drops need to have a purpose behind them for us to justify giving them away. We want to work towards giving better rewards but for that to happen we need a system like drops that rewards folks specifically for watching, not just entering a code. There have certainly been roadbumps along the way but its a system we're committed to working with and improving on.
I appreciate the feedback and understand the frustration, but just wanted to lay out our perspective here. Thanks
For the love of god please just make it a promo code on the website - that's what the playerbase wants. I feel bad for all the people who have been waking up early in the morning to leave the Twitch stream running so that they can get the same rewards that players who live in the "correct" timezone get - which isn't equitable.
I know your KPIs are important but the trade-off is player goodwill..
You want them to make promo codes for the website to encourage twitch stream viewership?
You say "that's what the playerbase wants." No it is not. Half the playerbase (if not more) doesn't even use the webstore, and would still be left out. What the playerbase wants is for the rewards to just automagically appear in their accounts without having to do anything or go anywhere.
Everyone says the line is drawn wrong, and should be drawn somewhere else instead. And coincidentally, it is always just behind their feet when they do.
Full disclosure: the streams start at 6AM local time for me, so I'm mostly missing out on everything in them myself. I would prefer not to, but I understand encouraging people to tune in. I would hope the playerbase has enough adults in it who see it the same way.
That's very accommodating of you to see an inherent issue of unfairness (being sleep while the stream happens and rewards are given out), and for you to be personally affected by it - but to still have no problem with it
I'd say you are far more tolerant and understanding than others that I've heard from over recent months who are also affected.
Your argument about half the playerbase not having the webstore, I'm guessing is insider information that you're privvy to? If so, have you removed accounts that are not active (i.e. login every day) from your data? Have you also removed "alt-accounts"? If PROPER data sanitation has been done then fair enough and I'll concede that I've been proven wrong.
I would be shocked if people who play every day and take the same seriously have never created a Xolla account in recent years.
(I truly respect your take on things, and view this as healthy mutually-respectful dialogue between peers)
It's much less about being able to create an Xolla account than them not remembering their credentials for the game. Or the original email they had no longer exists etc...
Some don't trust Xolla. Even for me, years ago, I used Xolla to purchase stuff in War Thunder and each time I did, Bank of America flagged it and locked my account and sent me a new debit card. Happened 3 times even after talking to BoA.
But I'd say it's more people that can't link their game to webstore.
Okay, so MCOC needs a box where players can add a promo code to redeem items WITHIN the MCOC game itself to overcome the issues with relying on third parties such as Twitch and Xolla.
No. People just need to realize they can't have everything every time. Do you think F2P are owed all the deals that spenders can get because they can buy things?
If they say "you have to watch the stream for these codes" then you should have to watch the stream for the codes. You don't get the twitch drops unless you watch the stream. How's it any different?
They literally can't stream 24/7 to make sure to involve everyone. These things are to drive viewers to the stream. The point isn't just to give everyone free stuff even if they didn't watch.
I'm just sharing solutions to the problem - it's causing a lot of frustration for a lot of people, and has done for quite some time in one way or another.
I'd happily not watch the streams and miss out on the drops - I watch the information in YouTuber summary videos anyway to save my time. I just leave the stream running on a spare phone with it set to silent.

But it's a problem you're inventing out of nowhere. The real problem is that most of the community has FOMO so they think they should be given everything every time. Really what you should be doing is helping those understand that they have choices to make in life. Make them understand that sometimes they'll miss out on things and it's ok.

Thanks, I'll tell anyone else that's affected by issues in future that "sometimes you'll miss out on things, and that's okay"
Also, if we're expecting players to be immune to FOMO, like it's a character flaw then that cuts both ways and Kabam shouldn't expect impulsivity to buy deals when the FOMO usually goes in their favor..

I don’t have any huge issue with hidden codes being included but I think there were a flaws in the design that they need to work through.
Companies / stores run giveaways or promotions with a limited number of winners all the time but there are typically three difference compared to hidden codes: 1. that number is typically known (e.g. first 100 people), 2. there are actions participants can take to give them an advantage if they want (wait in line for multiple hours - days before the event), 3. people can generally estimate the likelihood of winning before investing their time (if you get to the store and see there are 200 people in front of you, you know you’re likely not going to win. At the point you can make the choice to continue investing time or not).
Kabam missed the boat on the first and third with the third being the biggest issue for players.

There's a difference between missing something for "issues" and missing something because you are asleep, working, not paying attention or not quick enough.
There's no sense in us arguing about it. Some people feel it should remain exclusive and some don't. Personally, I think it ruins the entire experience. One exclusive draw is enough.
I am among the people who did not get some rewards in a previous livestream (I watched few livestreams and it was the previous one I watched). OK, it is not a big loss in terms of stuff.
With the communication, I expected better giveaway for all (some titan or 7* basic shards). OK, there were wonderful for 10 persons. 10 among several thousands.
Feedback taken. Our original intent here was to offer Something for all viewers ( Twitch Drops ), and limited avenues for players to win valuable prizes (Currently there's 5 Titan Crystals, 5 Champion Choice Giveaways ). Secret codes were meant to give another limited avenue for people to win something aside from the raffle style giveaways.
My opinion is it giv angry towards a already very bad state of the game making this worst in a sense because we already have a hard time with the game this take a step further backwards
i don’t mind promo code being hidden but making them good and limited it to how many people is where it when Wrong it a evil cycle of anger that could ben prevent happy sesing you and address why you guys did it that’s cool.
In this playerbase it's impossible to stop the circle of anger

That’s very true but can be very frustrating to keep getting dirt sorted of thing was my point obviously it just a term of speak I use
I hope the feedback given is seriously consider and there are revisions to this "Secret Code" for future livestreams together. What if there was a secret code limited to a certain number and then another secret code which all can get and uses the community watching the stream together to get. This both provides a combination of extremely spicy to a limited group with still the community as whole getting some more than the usual twitch drops. I think this could be a nice consideration.

I will certainly skip the next livestreams.
I'll continue to tune in schedule permitting because I enjoy watching the streams and the twitch drops with the reunion crystals and revives are a very nice gift. I don't care about the lottery prizes as I never emotionally invest in any prize where the odds are unrealistic.

yet u used a cvs gift card and bought the jean grey pre-release bundle and pulled a 7* version of her.(jkjkjkjkjkjk)

That was like a 3% chance; the stream giveaway odds are like 0.0001%.
I also think a huge reason this whole secret promo code went over so poorly was because you’d figure they’d go over and above to get the community back on their side after the LONG string of issues and trash they’ve been putting out lately. Here’s a stream they hyped up with giveaways on the heels of trash, and there’s no mention of an apology for how things have been performing and communicated and no “goodwill” gift for all as a “we know you guys haven’t been having the fun you used to and we’re sorry, we’re going to do better and to start out here’s some really cool stuff to say thanks for still supporting us”. The twitch drops aren’t enough for that, even if they worked properly, there should have been some shards, cats, crystals (progression based)… AND THEN also have the giveaways.

I mean if you ignore the first 20 minutes of the stream where they very specifically explained the mistakes made in communication and how that's going to be addressed I guess
The first 5 minutes of the stream was some of the most honest and accountable, I’ve seen from @KabamDORK in a while. It made me remember the good days when I learned to play champs like warlock, torch, and namor not from deep dives or hours of gameplay footage but by 45 second songs by the 2nd OG (of course seatin will always be the GOAT).
Will def be taking the feedback. Idea with them is to add a fun additional layer of activity and engagement with the stream....did not anticipate twitch not having the drops on, kind of changed the equation a bit. Regardless though, appreciation the feedback

Just went back and rewatched them for the first time in a while. If you want to talk about things that aged poorly go watch the intro to the human torch, “I think he’s just ok. I don’t think he does a lot of damage”. I petition due to his lackluster damage we should definitely have torch as a 7*. 🙏

Why must it all be linked to Twitch
It's not. If you're watching on twitch and youtube, you can get the giveaways and codes but it's TWITCH drops. So those are linked to Twitch. Do you go to McDonalds and become upset you can't order a Whopper?

I know man, I tried to get a Big Mac at Burger King and they said no, this is the world we live in.

I'd happily not watch the streams and miss out on the drops - I watch the information in YouTuber summary videos anyway to save my time. I just leave the stream running on a spare phone with it set to silent.
Also, if we're expecting players to be immune to FOMO, like it's a character flaw then that cuts both ways and Kabam shouldn't expect impulsivity to buy deals when the FOMO usually goes in their favor..
Companies / stores run giveaways or promotions with a limited number of winners all the time but there are typically three difference compared to hidden codes:
1. that number is typically known (e.g. first 100 people),
2. there are actions participants can take to give them an advantage if they want (wait in line for multiple hours - days before the event),
3. people can generally estimate the likelihood of winning before investing their time (if you get to the store and see there are 200 people in front of you, you know you’re likely not going to win. At the point you can make the choice to continue investing time or not).
Kabam missed the boat on the first and third with the third being the biggest issue for players.
With the communication, I expected better giveaway for all (some titan or 7* basic shards). OK, there were wonderful for 10 persons. 10 among several thousands.
I will certainly skip the next livestreams.

I don't care about the lottery prizes as I never emotionally invest in any prize where the odds are unrealistic.
But he also says that doesn’t matter anyways 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣
