Well epoch of pain was created with the thoughts of paths completed by 7*s and 6*s

I mean, so is the majority of content nowadays. But in reality, it was made with only 7* in mind, they just freed up three of the paths for players with more limited rosters so they had more flexibility in strategizing to bring the right counters, which is exactly what you did on this path.
It's easily believable that this can be done, it's just silly because of how much more it's likely to cost.

It works well for that path since your attack rating doesn't matter, you just need to inflict the debuffs.
I bet even a 4* Sentry would work.
