Is Anyone Else Getting Killed by Lotan Lag?

I run the game on an iPad Pro. I rarely ever experience lag except in 2 specific fights. The first is when Dust has her dust storm up. The second is Lotan’s maelstrom.
The lag is making dexing Lotan’s specials in phase 5 really inconsistent which has made the fight nearly impossible so far. Pretty sure it’s not a skill issue given how long I’ve played this game. My dex game is point.
Anyone have suggestions how to deal with the lag? Can Kabam turn off the damn Maelstrom or dust storm animations? I really appreciate trying to up the visual effects, but not at the price of making parts of the game function so poorly. It’s bad enough that I avoid fighting Dust at all costs, but getting stuck at Lotan is a bridge too far.
