Postscript on the stream (and all the recent / current events)

I really believe that Kabam understands their game and community, so I don’t think it’s fair to assume that they misunderstood or misread how this might be perceived. I think the explanation is probably really simple — too much work, not enough people to do it. Just look at the details recently. Events going live at the wrong time, posts with incorrect information, even the sloppy production on the stream. It all smacks of meetings that should have happened but didn’t and an overall lack of centralized planning. Looking back at just the recent champ calendar, who would have ever said this made sense? (I mean “made sense” in terms of maximizing fun for players and value for Kabam.)
You have a flood of mutants, three of whom are the same person. Then there’s the retooled Cyclops. As an aside, buffed Phoenix is a major loser in this whole affair. Plumes? Are we supposed to care about those now? You just told us that Dark Phoenix is the champ everyone will want, so where does that leave Phoenix, whom Kabam was making a big deal about for a while but seem to have forgotten now?
Then there’s Lumatrix, who basically passed without notice despite being kind of cool. (Side note, you can almost feel Kabam moving on from the Eidol concept in real time, just playing out the string with the last two champs.)
Then there’s HoF. Others have pointed out the unforced errors, so let’s skip it.
Then there’s the fact that Galan is coming, which, under normal circumstances, would have been a huge moment.
It’s too much in too short a time frame, all poorly communicated and managed. Individually, lots of good/great stuff but the sum feels like it’s way less than it should be.
