Does the thing and venom need awakening

I'm having a 6 star rank 4 thing and rank two venom I have a chance to dupe them and awaken them so is it worth awakening both the champs and whats the max sig required for hulking?

Thing needs it for defence mainly as it reduces the damage he takes with a protection passive triggers when stunned and triggers when the opponent would deal 300% of their attack rating. Thing need high sigs to take basically no damage when protection is active

Venom just gets access to another buff at the start of the fight and a percentage to get access to another buff at the start the potency it also increased to 20% at max sig

I’d say venom if you’re doing some attacking thing if you want a decent defensive champ for BG or war
