each bg match is 8-10 min average lets say. win one lose one you gain no points and you waste 20 minutes. sucks.

You do gain points by completing a match. If you quit, then it’s your fault for not getting them.

Generally, with a 50% win rate, your ranking will increase, but *very slowly*, i.e. something like 1 point per match played. If you go on a bad run of 2-3 losses in a row, it can wipe out a lot of your progress and feel very demoralizing.

This isn't new to mcoc. Is is the nature of ladder-style competition, and it's one reason most people don't like this format.

Honestly, i count myself in that group. I am one of the "reach GC and off" crowd that has been pushing much harder this season for the radiance rewards. Im doing okay so far - score of 50 at the moment - but i find that i dread the mode. I find it stressful. It feels like I'm putting in work rather than playing a game, and the occasional bad beat due to AI can wipe out a lot of effort.
