I mean i did everything i could on my 3 accounts, and even after spending close to 12k units on my big acct i had stashed have 4 more milestones to even get the 6* Phoenix.

If you are able to get it done by spending units, its made for F2P, just gotta grind the units...

How much is kabam paying you? I mean their annual revenue estimated last year is near a billion dollars

It made me laugh listening to the last livestream when they mentioned this being a favorite event. Of course it is because they know all the whales will spend what they need to in order to obtain all the new 7* champs 🤦🏻‍♂️

How am I trolling? You said it yourself you had 3 accounts. If you focused on 1 you might actually have the units to get the stuff. Units are free to get.

Coming from someone who only plays 1 account: I love this game and play as much as possible. I also have work, school, and a family which prevents me from being able to keep up with all the content AND grind for units. There could have been a more middle ground way for Kabam to structure this event so you didn’t have to spend as much regardless of it being units or money

Dude’s name is “BringPopcorn,” which screams “LovesDrams,” so yeah, I smell a troll, and that’s coming from a spender who reached all milestones, supports the game monetarily regularly, but also believes FTP players should be given some leeway to be able to achieve as well. Could they earn the units for this event? Yes, but it’s increasingly difficult with back to back game changing events that are so expensive in units. They’re asking too much in units, it’s true, if they are aiming for FtP players to have much of a shot. Otherwise it is a money grab. I’m not going to say Kabam shouldn’t make money, and I’ll likely continue to spend as long as the quality keeps up, but I do feel for the struggle that my FtP players go through each time these events roll through.

Well, according to the kills she’s getting and the insta bans I’m getting for her in bg’s, I wouldn’t call her a trophy champ, but to each his own. And yeah, when you call one of my fellow disabled vets “entitled,” all because he opens a discussion about the event being one sided due to the high unit requirement… yeah, you’re gonna get a strong reaction.

I'm f2p and I got the 6* phoenix and 2 of the champions. By the end of the event I'll have opened one more 7*. I think it's as f2p friendly as it can be

The one comment about ads was legit, but only up to a certain point really. No one is expecting the game to be completely FtP. He pointed out the major spend events and was just looking for some non-spend events which have become fewer and further between. They even eliminated Chinese New Year, which gave a lot of units each year. Anyway, would love to see some fresh thoughts on this.

Those units wer sent out in different ways. House of fire gave you 600 units for free. Didn't even have to do any dedicated quests.

Valiant EQ also gave 150 units.

Anything related to units is F2P friendly.
People pretty much had since CM to farm units up to this event.
They eliminated LNY, which were RNG units and added other events that had guaranteed units in the last couple of months
When a person says they participated on the event in 3 accounts and complains, its the persons problem for focusing on 3 accounts instead of 1.

Actually, the Heart of Fire event is essentially a reskinned Omega Days event, which is a spending event. It is a spending event which has allowances for free to play players to participate in it, but it is beyond any doubt a spending event.

The game has to make money on more than just two weeks of sales. There are spending events between J4 and CW, not just this one. The concessions to free players in this event are, in my opinion, pretty good, but that is subjective. What isn't subjective is that HoF is a spending event designed to drive spending, and absent knowledge of the economies involved, which you clearly are not aware of (since all you're aware of is the game makes something between 100M and 1B dollars a year) you don't really have any strong grounds to be claiming they make too much money.

Kabam itself actually makes no money. Kabam is a wholly owned studio of Netmarble who makes all the money. And they paid something like $800M to buy the studio and its assets. They are going to want to make their money back and then some, so they keep the revenue and budget salary and expenses to the studio. Neither you nor I actually know what the minimum revenue the studio needs to survive, but I can make educated guesses. Back in the day MMOs that supported themselves with subscription revenue typically charged between $12 and $20 per player per month, and no one was getting rich on that revenue. That would equate to between $150M and $250M USD per year. The estimated net revenue of the game has been floating around $180M-$220M per year, which is well inside that range. And presumably Marvel/Disney take a big chunk of that revenue.

~$200M has to pay Disney their cut, it has to provide return on investment to Netmarble, it has to pay operational costs to host the game, it has to pay for the costs to develop and manage the game (employee salaries, dev tools, etc). It sounds like a lot of money. It isn't.
