Reflecting on the State of the Game

You really thought this was gonna be another one of those posts huh LMAO, I know this is gonna get so many people. Wihout a doubt, there's a mismatch between my perspective of the game given where I'm at and someone who's truly endgame endgame, but I've had so much fun with this game the past two months. I played for a few years, from around 2018 to 2021, and was progressing pretty well, but I ended up leaving the game for a while. I recently came back like mid-April, and I genuinely felt like my account was stuck it's insane, I remember trying to get past that Mordo in Act 6 and never being able to. I came back around the Poolshields event into Heart of Fire (both were great by the way for someone progressing like me who hadn't even hit Thronebreaker at that point), and I genuinely went from destroying that Mordo in 6.2 to recently beating 9.1 Orochi (almost Valiant now, exploring Act 8 for that 2 to 3 gem) a few days ago.

Sure, there's definitely a disconnect between where I'm currently at and someone who's completed a plethora of endgame content, GC in Battlegrounds, yadda yadda, but I have to give appreciation where it's due because I've somehow gained more rating in the past two months than like three years playing this game, and I've genuinely enjoyed jumping into all of the game modes, whether it be BG or Incursions or obviously story content. For all the hate and skepticism that Kabam has to endure pretty much everyday from the playerbase, I have to give them props, it's still a great experience for FTP progressing players and hope y'all keep it up!

No, it won't happen anytime soon

Probably will come with Act 9.4 and 7R5s

    It is actually another one.
Do children not learn what paragraphs or sentences are anymore?

I got excited when you broke it up with a different perspective in the second half.

Good post. Way better than “who should I rank up”.

@WarBros23 thanks for the refreshing perspective, your “new’ eyes versus when you stepped away.

honestly, it’s easy to get hella tunnel vision, let (very real) issues compound their aggravation on us until we get fed up. think we need a reminder to looks for what, if anything, we still enjoy.

glad you’re enjoying your return, and again thank you for the morale boost!

I find every state of the game positive or negative hilarious.
If negative, something good happens and you see things such as credit where credit is due or phrases like Big win, Right direction.
If positive something that is not even that bad happens and all hell breaks. IE auto crystal opening.

I'm reflecting on how for the low low price of 2 ps5s you get 6 months worth of progression, and a new ridiculously stupid op defender, and 3 meta relevant champs, mid season on bgs.. the desperation to have an advantage on a mobile device is incredible

I’m reflecting on how if such people didn’t exist, the free to play players would be playing with sticks and rocks.

Also, I’m pretty sure most if not all the big spenders in this game are not spending out of desperation. They spend because they have this thing called discretionary budget, where they can spend on pretty much whatever they want. If it wasn’t this, it would be something else, and few people actually have a use for fifty PS5s lining their walls.

The funny but also sad thing about that graphic that’s been circulating around like it is clever is that it only tells half the story. Half the story is some people spend more on this game than they do on console games plus the whole console. The other half of the story is the vast majority of players of this game get all that and more while spending zero. You don’t see Sony charging whales fifty thousand dollars for PS5s while giving them away to everyone else for free six months later.

You can take that exact graphic and just scratch out the price below the MCOC side and scribble in a zero, and that would be an equally fair comparison. What moron pays all that money for a PS5 and a bunch of console games when they can play this one, plus thousands of others, completely for free?

It’s nice to have choices. We shouldn’t be ridiculing other people’s choices. Some of their choices are the only reason we even have any choices at all.
I don't mean mean to sound negative, kabam dangled a huge carrot where people found they couldn't help themselves, and I don't blame the players, however it's a hell of alot of dough to maintain relevance, I normally spend about £300-400 on things like July 4th, cyber etc and normally get weeklys so I'm hardly f2p but I'm no whale and make a fair contribution to this game, I've always had a relevant account and a decent account for bgs based on my progression earned, as I've done every piece of content etc , but this heart of fire just took the Mick, no other event has done that to that extent. last year's omega days for example, that never changed accounts to the level this did..
I saw the affect mid season it had, I cruised to 380 points before heart of fire dropped, then I couldn't compete, literally over night, every account I faced was headed by a rank 4 dark phoenix, R4 or 4 tigra (absolute nuke) and they just had an advantage, which they've got just for opening their wallets..
It's screwed the casual spenders in a big way, especially as there is no way to earn these champs

I can se what you mean with your last statement. It did had a big impact but i also think it was supposed to have since there rarely got use. Anymore. Nick wasn’t a threat anymore. Fant wasn’t. Either tigra was failing very low. So I can understand f2p being left out. But there probably gets released in saga crystals ect.
