Warlock is the best I could think of 🤔

A heal block champ with Wags prefight. If it were my roster, I'd probably just bring Red Skull with Wags. Light attacks until the stacks are gone, place the heal block, then rack up the charges.

Honestly a lot of champs should work for this, you just have to do your regular rock shield management with a champ that has heal block or regen reversal for the node. Running the rock shields dry might take a bit of time but a good heal reversal champ can handle the fight very quickly once you’re in the clear. Void, Warlock, Viv, etc. If you want a champ that also deals with the thorns (although this really isn’t necessary), Torch has energy attacks and regen reversal and Nefaria should also work fine if you’re careful with the Energy Build up debuffs and Korg’s purify. And if you’re worried about said purify interfering with your abilities, might I recommend a certain champ with Severe debuffs that ignore purify and some of the best regen reversal in the game?

Anyone with Healblock (passive is best) and Guidance prefight
There's a big difference between Battlegrounds and War.. a lot of people confuse who needs a hard counter and who doesn't sometimes in war because of the dynamics in battlegrounds - you need to finish with as much health as possible or you lose
War is simply different.. you just need to kill the opponent, while not dying.. therefore Attuma, Korg.. things like this, they don't really need a "counter" in AW

Nefaria works for this node, but Mr Fantastic prefights are required to push Healing below zero
That's what we use for Serpent

@Kabam Crashed The node is extremely punishing with it's design and very limited options. You should consider turning off recovery mastery for this node. So one can reverse regen with despair, giving us more options.

With respect, that would open it up too much imo.. the idea is that you have to think slightly outside the box and not just bring the top counter to a defender
Placement is about doing your best to protect your defenders from their top counter attackers.. sometimes you can protect them, sometimes you can't and they get wiped :)

Or just despair, which tbh I assume most competent players are running. There’s almost no reason not to for all the benefits it provides.

    See above about Recovery Mastery

I actually don't play Nefaria, but my alliance mates do.. but I'm assuming the way it plays out is he reduces it 95%.. then Despair takes it to 100%.. but without Petrify or something similar it will not go below zero?

But actually simply removing recovery mastery wouldn't make Despair work for the node.. it has to go below zero.. or actually wait, with the change to node design.. it would now, nvm
It now reads "prevented from gaining health"

Despair’s effects cap out at -100%, but you can go lower with your own source of regen rate reduction. For example, with max Despair, Leader only needs two of his 20% Spectres and two extra debuffs to reduce regen rate to 0 (40% from Spectre + 60% from 4 debuffs with Despair), and then any additional debuffs or Spectres will invert regen. It’s not that Despair stops working entirely if you already have your own way to reduce regen rate further, it’s just that it alone can’t provide more than -100%, which isn’t enough to invert regen with the recovery mastery.

Or 2 points in Petrify mastery . And use your stuns

And just for full clarity, here’s a pic of Nefaria reversing regen despite the fact that his base kit only has -95% regen rate reduction. I run max Recovery, but with Despair he can still regen reverse if you stack some debuffs while in Ionic Overcharge.

Would Sentinel with its heal block work on Korg and Attuma on this node ?

I know people are scared of class disadvantage fights but leader smashes this node and his debuffs can’t be purified or cleansed by korg

Who wants to take the massive thorns damage over and over from fighting with a warlock that’s no fun

    A couple things..
    - Guidance allows Warlock to parry freely so you can use light attacks only if you wish until thorns on cooldown
    - War the objective is to kill the defender before you die.. there is no penalty for losing health
    - Especially since this is a one fight format and you don't even have to use items for another fight

Warlock with Guidance also smashes Attuma.. parry heavy/sp3 (he even removes the threat of Hydration because Attuma won't be throwing any specials)
(Recoil and DW preferred, but not required)

So Nefaria's reduction works after Despair as opposed to before it? Or.. it's active independently is a better way to say it..I guess so, thanks for explaining
Maybe my alliance mates are just using MR. Fantastic Debuffs for power control against Serpent

They definitely stack. Despair does it's thing and the Nefarias continue to lower beyond it
