Aw-Kabam are you entertained?
Alliance Wars used to be a balanced mix of planning, strategy, and teamwork. It wasn't perfect, but it offered a sense of progression and competitiveness. However, with the recent changes—where entire lanes have been replaced by a single, high-HP defender—that balance has taken a serious hit.
Facing a champion with 10+ million HP on a key node, with no viable counter available in your roster, turns the experience from a strategic challenge into a frustrating dead end. There’s no alternative path, no way to adapt—just a high-risk fight that can sink an entire battle group’s chances.
The most frustrating part? I play in a G1 / Plat 6 alliance, which isn’t “elite” by any stretch, yet we’re expected to deal with this level of stress every 2-3 days, for rewards that barely justify the effort.
It feels punishing. Not everyone has the perfect roster to counter every nightmare setup, especially with defender placement now being heavily optimized to exploit the new format. A single defender can rack up 30, 40, even 50+ kills simply because the opponents don’t have the right tools.
Compare this to Nightmare Raids—yes, they're hard too, but they last a week, and the rewards at least feel worth the effort. Alliance Wars, on the other hand, feel like a constant cycle of stress, potions, and disappointment with little to show for it.
This isn’t about avoiding challenge—it’s about proportionality. Right now, the effort-to-reward ratio just feels off, and the fun that used to come from coordination and counterplay is getting lost in the grind.
Here’s hoping Kabam takes a closer look and brings some balance back to the mode.
