Mr. Sinister is Doctor Strange

When I started playing MCOC, I got introduced to Mr. Sinister for the first time. He looked so uncannily similar to Doctor Strange that I actually thought he was evil Doctor Strange in the comics. However, when I searched it up I couldn't find any sort of relationship between the two individuals. Then I clicked on a link to the MCU and apparently there's this character named "Sinister Strange," from DSATMVOM, and that cannot be a coincidence. Moreover, ChatGPT claims that Sinister is actually Magneto's counterpart, so I am more confused because that doesn't even make sense. Am I suffering from false nostalgia or is there some sort of deeper connection between these two characters? How is Sinister related to Magneto? Hopefully this forum has comic book readers because I do not want to be seen in Marvel reddit.

Mr Sinister looks like Dr Strange in game because Kabam has like 5 models they build all the characters from. Same reason Herc is just Hype without shaving for a bit and a mace instead of a cape.

Long story short: Mister Sinister is X-men villain, that is known for experimenting on mutants in search of genetic perfection.
The version we got is closer to og version of Sinister from 616, where Nathaniel Essex is scientist that is obsessed with making superhumans through experiments. He got his look after meeting Apocalypse.
He is not connected to Doctor Strange at all. They might have similarities in design, but they do not have direct connections in lore of marvel comics at all.

Sinister in comics started out as generic mysterious leader of x-men villain group of the month (the marauders), drawn by Marc Silvestri to look like a Colossus knock-off. It wasn't till much later they established what his actual powers were, or his actual backstory, other than he don't like Apocalypse and he has a thing for the Summers clan. This was all pre-Jim Lee X-men so I had no strong affinity for it.

No relation to Strange whatsoever.
