AW attacking paths

On the previous wars, a single player could move from one island to another. Now a single player can only get to one island and then to the end of the map. Is this intended? Wasn't like this before.

    Tier 6 and lower you can use portals between islands. On tier 5+ you do one fight and can only portal to the end.
