Potential triggers for the anti-cheat system

A lot of people got banned even though they never cheated. Don't be mean to others who are trying to voice their frustrations. I am here to list a few potential triggers.

1. Downloaded google play via apk in order to download the game. Unfortunately for Chinese players or players who use Chinese phones like Huawei and Xiaomi, google play doesn't come by default. Google is blocked in China, they have to download google play via apk in order to get western apps.

2. Used a phone mover app. When switching to a new phone, Android users would use an app to transfer everything (apps and data) over from the old phone to the new one.

3. Used a vpn. This game doesn't work everywhere in the world. If you live or travel to somewhere the game is not supported, you have to use vpn to run it.

All three points apply to me unfortunately.

Lastly, and very likely, this anti-cheat system is full of bugs. I work in tech myself and I know for a fact that most companies run offshore teams to cut costs. A company of Kabam's size is no doubt running offshore teams. While they are cheap, offshore teams are mostly underskilled and incompetent. I don't trust them to release solid features or products.

While the first point is valid, the last isn't. Vpn doesn't result in a ban. Never has

Would depend if you’re geo-blocking certain locations.

This is just a bad implementation. What is it actually looking for?

I can debunk 2 and 3 just by personal anecdotes alone since I've done both of those things multiple times but kabam has stated multiple times that VPN is absolutely fine.

Also does anyone think that last point is kinda racist? Is that just me?

Its not racist its off shorecist

Kabam doesn't geo block locations. It's locations that block mcoc

    How do you know that?

When the Russia//Ukraine war kicked off, those were blocked immediately.

If you have a personal vpn and the’re allowed, could break or trigger stuff if they’re blocked.

I'm using Xiaomi phone. And it's global phone. Pre installed Google and all services. I downloaded and updated using Google play store. Didn't use VPN and phone mover.

xiaomi doesn't come with google play. if you had it to begin with, someone downloaded it via apk before you.

    This is a bad example

Older Xiaomi is not really google play.

But not indicative of the current issue.

    So a simple thought,
99.5% of these bans are probably legit...

Hacks/Mods/Software for these games follow the same fundamental rules, and the main one is that they are data houses, the software Hacks/Mods/Optimization you use for League of Legends will also attack/search for any other apps that it can push into, they are not designed to only work with 1 app. APKs are "open source" which means they have the ability to be tracked by any third party to recognize the system its being used in and constantly monitor that device.

That said, if you have ever used any Hacks/Software for any other app on your device, even if its not MCOC, there is a possibility of that software attaching to MCOC, whether you are using it or not.

Removing these "clients"(Hack/Software) does not actually remove 100% of it, because of the nature of these things, they will always leave a small component in your device to monitor and track your device, there's security software but most are fallible to a certain degree.

So....if you are using any software for...other games, social media, ecomm, tracking or anything else, chances are that software is looking for other things it can integrate with on your device and as a result, possibly MCOC.

It's not "multiple devices", "VPNs" or even moving to a new device that gets you banned.

I'm not attacking anyone, those that use Mods/Hacks...you know who you are, the penalty is what it is. Is there a chance that you are lumped into a error, yes, any new anti-cheat is bound to have some flaws as the ML/Ai sorts its learning.

Just my thoughts, with digital age comes digital issues, a lot of the things you DL to you devices are built with tracking, and tracking software can look like anything.

Good luck all, and really, careful what you download, 90% of the things you've put on your device, even 10 years ago, are still sitting there, whether you deleted or not.

    Peace

i agree that majority of the bans is legit. it's unfortunate for the small group that did nothing wrong.

the phones are great, this game isn't going to keep me from using them. i can't deal with the subpar latest iphones.

If it’s a newer one it should have the legitimate google play store. Is it an older one?
  • mikemai2awesomemikemai2awesome Member Posts: 11
that's not possible. Google is banned in China. if you sell phones with Google apps, thr government is gonna come after you. mine is a Xiaomi 14 ultra.

Why are some trying to blame this on a mistake or something when the answe is literally in front of us lol radiance. We knew there would be a massive increase in cheating due to how big the radiance rewards are and how game changing they are, easily the biggest thing we've had this year and even last year in my opinion because this store is truly going to change the game's economy forever. It shouldn't be surprising at all to have so many modders claiming they're innocent when they probably just lost over 100k radiance after trying their best to make their matches seem legit so Kabam wouldn't notice.

Xiaomi comes with Google play pre installed. If it's downloaded apk than while I hard resetting it than all installed apps should delete automatically. Only pre installed apps are there. Xiaomi phone has some variants, Global/Chinese. Mine is Global that pre installed g apps

Agreed, they could have rolled this out better but let me add this...I'm in Indonesia by way of New York, I have a bunch of friends in China that downloaded the game via "apk", they haven't been banned so the whole APK thing that the community is blaming is not accurate.

    Lets hope this gets sorted.
