Is Gentle middle lane bugged?

It might be at least part a skill issue but I’m not getting grit practically any time I punish his SP1, and it’s not consistent when i punish SP2s and heavies. I have Kushala so her role boost is always fully maxed so that’s not the issue. I realize there’s a very short hit window on the SP1 so I understand if that’s just a skill issue (plus a slightly dubious choice of defender and node combination), but the heavy and SP2 are pretty easy to punish.

It's just a very difficult node combination as the time to punish gentles sp1 is very little but do able.

Really feels like the grit passive timer should be a little longer so you can keep them up consistently.

From another thread somebody said you have to punish three times in order to get the grit. I don’t know if that’s accurate but it roughly maps to my lived experience with the fight. I can’t be bothered to decipher the raids lingo of force, fervor, penance, charge, blah blah to know if it’s true or not.

For the sp1, the key is to dash way back when he starts the animation, then come closer while he’s swinging his stuff around so you are at a medium distance when you actually dex back to avoid the rock. You want to almost start your dash right when the rock looks like it’s going to hit you in order to get in fast enough to land a medium.

Do not dash way back. I repeat. Do not dash way back. Its a very easy way to screw up your spacing and get intercepted or blocked.

lol, worked for me just fine. His animation is long and slow enough it was easier for me to move forward into the right positioning before he chucks the boulder.

Im trying to help players with this cruddy fight and make it as easy as possible. Dashing way back does not align with that as it is an inferior and more dangerous way to punish his sp1

Sorry, I think we all missed the place where you explained the proper way to do it.

Gentle has a 2 dash dex where you dex the first hit, the second will whiff, and then you can dex the boulder and immediately attack him. If you dex back as far away as possible before gentle throws his rock, then you're just begging for gentle to destroy you by intercepting your punish attempt.

To OP, gentle's sp1 punish window is too small to actually punish based on what I've heard from others, so you have to punish his heavies or sp2 for the node unfortunately.
