HT Should be added to WoF Rewards

Honestly… this content is about to be skippable and irrelevant but HT could save it from that. The selector was promoted as allowing for player to select a WoF defender to add to their roster, and he’s a WoF defender, the most desirable for endgame accounts this is targeting too.

This would address one of, if not the, biggest criticism I’ve seen of this content. That feeling of the community being given the ole bait and switch… but that is also the point of feedback that’s easiest to address.

By adding HT to the rewards it would make this content continually relevant, and give the community and developing accounts a clear incentive to play it as HT always a relevant champ. As it now stands this content will age poorly in as little as 14 days, and will likely be irrelevant in 3 to 6 months…. Something I can’t imagine is ever a goal for “aspirational content”.

The other benefit of adding HT to this pool is it shows an pivot to the current toxic trend of growing pool of paywall exclusive champions. I don’t know if a single player that finds it good for the game. Regardless of being a where, dolphin or FTP player, most find this unknown runway of paywall exclusive champions to feels gross. I’m sure the data is pointing otherwise… but I don’t know how much longer that will last as there’s a groundswell of players that truly dislike this.

Minimally there needs to be an announcement letting the player base know when these champs are planned for general access, a road map to make it feel a little less gross. A big part of this last pain point is the not knowing…

Still with both these points in mind HT (or Rags if that’s your yum… definitely not a fan of ole T-Rex arms) being added to the WoF rewards would be such an easy W and would reverse potentially some of the community disappointment around this content (while giving it added longevity) so I hope the team considers it.

not trying to poo poo your thread, but just to play devil's advocate, this wouldn't benefit kabam in any way and they'd lose a good chunk of money too. they have no reason to do this.

unclear language like this would never come close to justifying a comp package like this. players who just got their accounts unfairly banned won't even get 1/50th of that value in compensation and they were demonstrably affected.

there is literally nothing to compensate for. brief shock and disappointment after opening an event tab isn't worth $1, let alone $800. sorry OP but this is wishful thinking at best brother. i want torch too but it ain't happening.

It's too late to update the rewards when the content is launched bcos some players already completed the content and claimed the rewards

Why didn't Kabam asked players to volunteer to beta test the content before launching, CCP played would have flagged the low rewards immediately

I assume it's probably too late to change that. People have already done their selection. They would have to give everyone 2 to compensate.

I really wish they had included him from the start.

Literally one extra champion would've saved the entire quest since everyone (everyone capable of doing the quest anyway) would be stuck on that and would have completely ignored everything else about the rewards

I’ll be ok either way, the way I see this, as it currently stands, Kabam invested time and resources into developing content destined for obscurity in 14 days with the current rewards. This is just a helpful suggestion to save that investment from that fate while making the content more interesting for players at the same time by offering an exclusive reward.

I don’t see that as a major hurdle. Create Rags or HT selector that’s separate from the current one.

Also they can't give HT in the rewards since that would be a great, player friendly, community morale boosting move that allows very skilled, very experienced, and very endgame players to get a powerful meta champion they can use in a competitive mode instead of charging them $500 to keep that champion exclusive. So you of course understand why they couldn't include him in here.

I guess the reward is "1 7* selector". They'd have to buff it to 2 7* selectors to implement this change

Well, they've been forgetting about f2p players the whole year so I guess he just forgot again. The nodes on this quest aren't even that hard, the hps are just huge and the fights are restrictive on another level which is funny cause this means the people who can breeze through the quests are those with massive rosters aka whales, totally not a coincidence.

I see no reason for compensation. No one was materially affected in any way. Some of us just got excited for a little while before they clarified the situation, but to my knowledge, no one managed to get to the selector before that clarification came. So everyone who did reach it knew which champions it contained.

You can argue that the rewards are unsatisfying. That's a completely different issue, and I would agree with you there (at least in part). While I understand that they might not want to give away Human Torch for free when we're less than a month away from July 4th, where they'll rack in bajillions of dollars from people paying to get him, I think it would have been really cool to have maybe two defenders in the quest who weren't available as 7*s that you could actually choose from the crystal. That way, there would have been a guaranteed value in that crystal even for us who have all or almost all of the champs in it. They did add a Nexus Titan as a choice, which was neat, but I think having a somewhat underwhelming crystal as the main draw for the entire quest was a weird misstep from their side to begin with.

But none of this requires any compensation. Nor do I think the current rewards need to be buffed (at least not in any way more than they already have been). However, I do hope that Kabam takes the constructive criticism about this content to heart.

Yep, I agree. This isn’t a call for compensation, simply an enhancement idea to make the content more relevant. A request to add a cool carrot to it all.
