Kabam is really self sabotaging MCOC

alozaloz Member Posts: 4
A quick message which no one has either asked for or cares much but this game is really falling off.
First they add mcoc to PC which no one has really asked for and instead we ask for better meta and for the decline on the rise of cheaters within the game. Then there was a mass wave of people being ban which I believe from reading many people's responses were false bans and that they were simply playing the game like everyone else apart from a few MINOR addons like downloading the game from a different e shop or simply using emulation without cheats. Honestly Kabam needs to fix their game and make up to the people they have falsely ban instead of being arrogant and stand by their point that their "new technology" has detected "cheaters" or else people would just lose respect for the amazing game they have made.
Of course no one has asked me to say this but I thought to myself I might as well just say this :)

I agree that this could have been executed much better, but a bunch of the people who said they were innocently banned later said they downloaded the game from an illegal place.

Yes they aren’t actually cheating, but they did break TOS.

well they could at least make the rules clear because lets be honest, most people didnt know it violated the TOS until the day that they got ban

The game being playable on console/PC is one of the most requested things in this games history right behind adding mystique.

If you think a ban wave or a poorly received piece of content is the games downfall then you're obviously not a long term player. This game has had way worse times than this.

They are compensating people that were incorrectly baned. There's no arrogance behind any of it. Where do you even get that from? lol

99.99% of players don't read the ToS. But if you took a few minutes, you'll find it clearly written. 🤷

They've made it clear many times with an in game mail that very clearly states do no use 3rd party software. Couldn't be more clear than that.

They wanna shur down but they don't know how to tell us, they will probably settle for the typical "it's not you it's.me" speech.

Kabam is just running the game like a business to be sustainable

It has to make revenue to pay Google for hosting the game

See what happens if Kabam doesn't sell crystals and is unable to pay Google, Google will stop providing services to Kabam

Den all of us will not be able to play the game

They're doing their job. People in spades asked for a PC version over the years. As for the bans, there were SOME false positives, which were unfortunate. They've owned it, and are offering compensation. Not ALL of the reports claiming to be innocent are innocent. I'm not making accusations at anyone in particular, but someone has to point that out. So I highly doubt all of the claims are false positives.
Anytime someone circumvents the ordinary ways of playing the game, there is a risk they take upon themselves. I'm quite sure people are aware that VMs, unofficial downloads, and the like are not supported. People are intelligent enough to discover these methods, they're intelligent enough to understand that.

I am still in awe in their confidence to throw a ban nuke. Sure when we report bugs a common response has been "its hard to find because of the variety of models and brands of android devices". Well some people got caught in the process, who knows if others they can't find. I even remember when people got wrongfully banned because S22 was a brand new device. I don't know if the massive ban new tech is a live system or a button they gotta push. If its live and nothing has been changed people who claim did nothing should automatically be banned again by the system right?

How do you know they were using emulator without cheats? How would Kabam know?

Any anti-cheat system can be thwarted within a virtual or emulated environment, because the emulated environment can change anything in the game. That's why cheaters use them a lot. So when you say a lot of people used emulator but didn't cheat, how do you know? How would Kabam know? Do we take people's word for it? Do we look at the account and say well, if they cheated they'd have done all the content and have a hundred R4s, so that's not a cheater? If they win their BG match in 28 seconds instead of 18 seconds do we say well, I can't be sure it is cheating so I guess its fine.

If you run in an emulator, Kabam has no idea if you're not cheating, or just really good at cheating. It can only catch stupid cheaters. If you download your game client from somewhere other than a trusted distribution site, Kabam can't tell if you're playing a clean copy of the game or just a really well-crafted mod that looks like a legit client. In one of my particular areas of expertise, that of IT security, these are hard problems even when it is billions of dollars at risk and tens of millions of dollars are brought to bear on the problem. Unauthenticated supply chains are in fact the biggest threat out there most of us are worried about. MCOC is just a video game. If Kabam spent all of MCOC's revenue trying to solve the problem of how to allow unregulated game clients access to the game while preventing cheating, they still would be unlikely to solve it. Because no one else has.
