Help me understand the Count Nefaria hype

I’ve had nefaria for a while now, and I’ve found myself using him less and less as time goes on to the point that I took him out of my battlegrounds deck yesterday because I never drafted him. I’m by no means calling him bad. I see how great the parry evade, energy vulnerability when parrying the last hit of a special, healing off sp1, and control of power gain and healing matches are. But I feel like most of the time, I’d rather use another more specific counter. He feels like a jack of all trades, master of none type of champion to me. I also am not seeing the damage compared to the many great science nukes.
With that said, I keep seeing more and more love for him from the community as time goes on. I’d love you all to convince he that he’s amazing and I’m missing sometime. What matchups are people using him for and why are you using him over other champions?

His value comes from how sustainable he is and how versatile he is for other content like war. He’s super safe for serpents and pretty much anyone else
immunities
massive resistances ( both physical and energy )
massive regen
power and regen control
good damage ( great damage if you can parry evade last hit of special and counter for energy vulnerability )
non contact hits in ionic mode
great for war and story content
not the fastest but very reliable
can be very annoying on defense as there are multiple projectile hits in his specials and they can catch you sometimes
this is my rank 4 sig 140 nefaria vs a rank 3 okoye in GC mysterium
This is Quest 2 wof. I actually got bored doing this one
He can take a lot of champs in each class, just not a BG nuke.
As others have mentioned, he's also great against Serpent. Serpent's power gain will fuel Nefaria's abilities, Nefaria will heal back any chip damage he takes (and his massive resistances will lessen that to begin with), and he'll keep both Serpent's regen and power gain in check when he gets his death immunity. Science champs can't completely negate Serpent's power gain but a 50% reduction still makes a huge difference.
He was my absolute MVP against the Wheel of Fate Gorr (if you have Despair) since he completely shuts down his regen, making the fight a cake walk. Even if you get hit by his big scary SP2, you more or less immediately regen it all back. He's also immune to bleed and highly resistant to shock, neutralizing much of the threat that Gorr poses even if you get hit.
He makes America Chavez a lot more manageable since she doesn't get that massive power gain from her SP1. If you ever face a Dragon Man that you can stun, he'll still shut down his power gain, meaning he'll pose next to no threat anyway. Same with Sasquatch. You don't have to worry about his end-of-life regen.
Furthermore, he's great against a lot of Tech champions as well since they tend to have regen when they fall below a certain health threshold. Most aren't difficult to deal with but I can sometimes have trouble with Infamous Iron Man's since he's hard to parry consistently. Well, you don't have to with Nefaria, because he'll just shut it down. He's also surprisingly good vs Warlock. As soon as you reach you Ionic Overcharge, your attacks no longer make contact. That means that you won't accumilate any of those virus charges, neutralizing Warlock's most annoying defensive threat. Also, if he does launch an SP1 and places a shock on you, you'll barely feel it anyway.
In addition to this, he's great in PvP content since his abilities counter two very prevalent masteries: Willpower and Mystic Dispersion. Normally a defender would love to have a bunch of non-damaging debuffs on them throughout the entire fight, but Nefaria blocks that healing and steals it for himself. When he's facing Mystic champions, he neutralizes Mystic Dispersiion and also steals that would-be power gain for himself.
One very useful thing about his signature ability is that his Ionic Overcharge kicks in immediately if the opponent gains enough power or health in a short enough time. At max sig, it kicks in if the opponent gains either 20% of a bar of power or 8% of their max health in 0,5 seconds. This means that whenever Mystic Dispersion would activate, he immediately enters Ionic Overcharge. It can also make him a good counter for some unexpected champions, such as Nick Fury. He almost completely neutralizes Nick's second life by blocking out 95% of the regen after the first 8%. He's still not the best Nick Fury counter since Nick counters Nefaria's abilities in various ways, but it's still a fun interaction. Just in terms of dealing with Nick's second life, he's one of the best in the game.
Finally, he has a massive amounts of either resistances or outright immunities. He's fully immune to bleed and power steal, is always 90% resistant to shock and incinerate, and gains up to 90% resistance to degeneration depending on how many Ionic Charges he has, up to 100. Pair that with an absolutely absurd amount of both physical and energy resistance while in Ionic Overcharge (and his ability to siphon tons of regen off his opponent) and he can be very, very hard to knock out.
He is fantastic. How do you get a "-1" in the Special Attacks category? Haha.
The same goes for regens. He'll regenerate massive amounts of health that he denies his opponent as well as when using his sp1 after placing energy build ups on the opponent. So Serpent's death immunity regen won't activate leaving him with nothing but a timer that you could just wait out. He's basically unkillable.
Also got an R4 Onslaught solo on intercept node in AW this past war. His easy access to intercept thanks to his parry evade can be quite cheesy.
Got a solo against an R4 Enchantress on hazard shift in the previous war thanks to his shock and incinerate resistance.
Nefaria may not be the heaviest hitter in the game (though he can hit fairly hard), but he is one of a very small group of champs that can go almost anywhere.
What about 18 mins?
Offensively his power control/denial and sustainability (including siphon when he’s awoken) is just off the charts.
His resistances are so amazing and because of this he feels super safe in pretty much every single fight. He’s not the classical definition of “tanky” but he is a tank. The amount of damage he can take and come back from is undoubtedly among the best in game.
Bleed immune, yeah it kind of hurts him as he loses charges but this is often a net gain tbh. Shock and Incinerate resistance, as well as massive energy resistance makes him a Hazard Shift king. Oh, he also has resistance to degeneration.
You want physical damage, he has it. You want energy damage? He’s got it. Once he’s in overcharge all of his attacks become energy, which gives him added utility, especially on defence.
He doesn’t just take fights he has no business taking. He completely controls them. Serpent, he keeps the power gain in check, receives a ton of healing and barely any chip damage. Against Killmonger he effectively starts in overcharge and actually turns Killmonger’s purify ability against him because he takes all the power for himself. He doesn’t shut Nick Fury’s second life off completely but if he’s in overcharge mode Nick will just stop healing. There are so many instances where Nefaria is just the answer.
I vehemently disagree with the person above saying he’s not a BG champion. Any power gain meta, he will control the flow of the fight. Any meta with regen? He will thrive.
There’s hype around Nefaria because he does so many things so well. He just fits in to so many places and handles so many problems.
The other two screenshot are not hackers.
Tis only I with -1 special attack.
if yall know anything about hulkling, then yall will know how hard the sp2 hits when unblockable , especially when its the epoch hulkling.
I had him r3... didn't use much until he got duped and things changed.
After dupe I started enjoying. And went ahead investing 50 old saga sigs I was saving for someone useful.
