Help me understand the Count Nefaria hype

I’ve had nefaria for a while now, and I’ve found myself using him less and less as time goes on to the point that I took him out of my battlegrounds deck yesterday because I never drafted him. I’m by no means calling him bad. I see how great the parry evade, energy vulnerability when parrying the last hit of a special, healing off sp1, and control of power gain and healing matches are. But I feel like most of the time, I’d rather use another more specific counter. He feels like a jack of all trades, master of none type of champion to me. I also am not seeing the damage compared to the many great science nukes.

With that said, I keep seeing more and more love for him from the community as time goes on. I’d love you all to convince he that he’s amazing and I’m missing sometime. What matchups are people using him for and why are you using him over other champions?

He’s not a battlegrounds champ. He can be used in a few metas but he’s not the fastest or anything so I’d never use him over someone like Silk or Titania

His value comes from how sustainable he is and how versatile he is for other content like war. He’s super safe for serpents and pretty much anyone else

I am curious! I've seen Nefaria go up against Serpent a few times and do really well - what is it about him that stands his ground so well against Serpent?

    Power control and sustainable regen.
This is Quest 2 wof. I actually got bored doing this one
He can take a lot of champs in each class, just not a BG nuke.
Surviving 14 minutes against Serpant is dman impressive

Serpent has insane power gain and Nefaria can counter that as well as gain the power denied the opponent for himself when he's in Ionic overcharge.

The same goes for regens. He'll regenerate massive amounts of health that he denies his opponent as well as when using his sp1 after placing energy build ups on the opponent. So Serpent's death immunity regen won't activate leaving him with nothing but a timer that you could just wait out. He's basically unkillable.

Here's another Serpent solo to share. Even had my health go as far down as 2% in this fight and was able to make it back up as high as 87%.

Also got an R4 Onslaught solo on intercept node in AW this past war. His easy access to intercept thanks to his parry evade can be quite cheesy.

Got a solo against an R4 Enchantress on hazard shift in the previous war thanks to his shock and incinerate resistance.

Nefaria may not be the heaviest hitter in the game (though he can hit fairly hard), but he is one of a very small group of champs that can go almost anywhere.

    Y’all think he’s worth r4 at sig 100?

Absolutely, he’s been my favorite R4 ever since I took him up

Yes. He gets a sizeable chunk of the utility from his sig ability relatively early. There isn't a lot that happens between sig 100 and sig 200. It can still be useful since his Ionic Overcharge triggers when the opponent heals less and gains less power in a short window of time - which is nice and can be useful - but you'll already be stopping those that gain a lot of health and power.

@MᗅՏᗅCRE are you using the sp1 then sp2 rotation or multiple sp1s?

That’s the typical pattern. Make sure your charges are over 150 to get the max amount of furies. And it’s important to know if you can’t get his evade punish, your damage will just be lower

if yall underestimate the physical and energy resistance in ionic overcharge , used my r3 unboosted nefaria against epoch hulkling. even after taking full combo into the block and an unblockable sp2 from hulkling, nefaria didnt die .

if yall know anything about hulkling, then yall will know how hard the sp2 hits when unblockable , especially when its the epoch hulkling.

    sp1 sp2, my nefaria is sig 180

Nefaria hits hard if you can parry the last hit of the specials. The energy vulnerability plus the furies on his sp2 is his source of boost in damage. In metas that being knocked out is common, his survivability can help you win even if you can't kill your opponent's defender

Crazy resistant, utility hidden behind his stacking debuffs, crazy regen, strong DoT on SP2, doesn't need awakening, has immunities - what would you want more?

    Felt mid unawakened.
I had him r3... didn't use much until he got duped and things changed.

I have him 7* R3 unawakened, and he has helped me a ton already. Yes, it is very useful to have the dupp, but I would say he is already great without

Couldn't use him in BGs undudped. He was timing out. Maybe it was skill issue at that time.

After dupe I started enjoying. And went ahead investing 50 old saga sigs I was saving for someone useful.
