When Can You Dex Serpent Specials

HendrossHendross Member Posts: 993 ★★★
At what point or what indicates you cannot dex serpents specials? Sometimes it works... sometimes you eat one to the face. Is it some combination or interaction of abilities; fear, pierce, true focus, dread, culforce?

When you are Spiral, right? Or does she have some conditional thing in her kit that has to occur before she can dodge serpent’s specials? I say “dodge” cause I think it’s not technically a dex.

Spiral only when she has her dancing swords is when she can dodge. Otherwise you will be getting hit

Spiral needs to have her dancing blades active to dodge

It’s the true focus buff that disables dex during his specials. If you somehow prevent it from triggering via something like stagger or neutralize, you can safely dex. Certain champs who simply dodge attacks when dashing back without the dex mastery (aka “built in dex”) like Dazzler and Silk can “dex” Serpent’s specials at will.

Silk huh? Wasn't aware. I'm aware of her evade mechanic but didn't think it could work on Serpent.

So, the guys above have mentioned the blue True Focus Buff, which you can potentially Stagger or Neutralise.

And there are champs like Silk who have built-in Dex replacements, that can work.

If you can't remove/prevent the buff, and you don't have a built-in Dex replacement then you're going to have to block some of the hits.

If there's room to move, you can always dash back out of range of the first hit of SP1/SP2, since it's not a projectile.

That'll let the Unblockable expire, so you can block the projectile hits. They'll hurt, but not as bad as not blocking them would.

For the SP1, you can dash back twice after he leaps at you, to get out of range of the final non-projectile hit.

None of that is "Dexing", but it's the best you can do.

You can also dex at the last possible moment and dodge the melee hits even if you're close.

    List of champs who can
Champs who stagger neutralise or nullify that buff, but it has to remove that buff DURING his special if using nullify eg juggs ebony maw
Champs who dodge attacks when about to be struck NOT dexterity : quicksilver dazzler vulture silk spiral( after enough fervors)
Mordo duped can after blocking one hit of serpent’s specials

Quicksilver can't unless you disable the dexterity mastery

This is actually true of a lot of older champs with “built-in dex”. I’m pretty sure everyone with a similar ability released after Silk is 100% safe, and anyone before with exception of Nightcrawler can’t do this unless they actually don’t have the dexterity mastery active.

    I think anyways.

Yeah I hate the inconsistency too, I’ve been waiting for a long time for Kabam to finally “fix” this, but at this point it’s probably safe to say that Kabam sees it as a “feature” as if these abilities aren’t indistinguishable and shouldn’t just have the same functionality. Just let me use QS against Photon for god’s sake.

Can try parrying his specials instead of trying to dex them.

    It’s easier and more reliable.

Nico Minoru can dex his SP2 when she has buff immunity up, Spiral with dancing blades activated can. Dazzler and Silk can also dex his SP2 as well.

Just parry instead of trying to dex. You’re welcome.

I do belive you can dex the last hit of his SP1 with any champ. Just faced him in arena with Silver Sable, and that worked with her. I don’t know about anything in her kit that makes her special in this matter, and she’s overall pretty useless…

I try not to. I use someone with high block proficiency and parry hits
