There are 300,000 total earnable points, so yes you can reach the top milestone, even if you miss a few.
Why do you make everything p2w?
I wouldn't call it pay to win. Sure, spending could be a tie breaker for points, but if you don't do everything, especially Raids, no amount of spending is going to catch you up.
Well, technically speaking $24,000 USD might catch you up. But even among the mega whales I suspect the number of people who will actually do that is very close to zero.
Since about a third of the realm points are in Raids, and my alliance doesn't do raids (much less Nightmare Raids which seems to be required to cap out the milestones) I'm basically out of it. But the event is still giving me a ton of rewards for basically just playing the game more or less as I normally do, so I can't be too upset. I find it ... odd that there's so much emphasis on Raids given their presumptive optional nature - and the fact they are tied to alliances, meaning individual players cannot simply choose to do them just for the event - but I suppose Kabam has its reasons there.
There are ranked rewards, which will be unobtainable unless you pay I would call that pay to win
They are unobtainable even if you do pay, unless you also basically do everything. Normally the term pay to win refers to games where either whomever pays the most wins, or spending offers an overwhelming advantage compared to everything else. But that's not really true here, except in an essentially unrealistic extreme. Spending offers an advantage between two players who otherwise are tied in all other respects, but having an advantage between two competitors who otherwise do exactly the same things equally well is not pay to win, that is literally all competitions.
I'm sorry but if there's NO way you can place #1 without having to spend, it's called a PAY TO WIN event.
Nothing new really for realm events. Banquet was the exact same.
Last year's Battlegrounds Realm Event was absolutely nothing like this Realm Event. I placed top 4 overall without spending a single penny.
Spenders had an advantage which was being able to purchase Units in order to buy elders BUT they still had to play the game AND win BG matches in order to rack up points.
This "Summoner Fest" is an absolute joke towards competition, it's a PAY to WIN event.
Maybe its because they analyzed data and figured out some people were being scumbags farming the VT for points and didn't want that anymore.

So they put points in the "Win X Matches" objectives, which will result in those same people camping?

If you want the radiance you won't camp...
I dont particularly care about the radiance in the objectives, and I'm not alone.
I won't be camping, but there definitely will be some that do.

Lol what? Its the highest currency at the moment, why would someone camp for the alliance rank rewards 🤣
look at the summoner showdowns. it's hardly equal because deck size is largely determinant of placing in the top 10 or whatever but i'd guess everyone here complaining about this fest event are ok with that. how come? decks aren't free...how come that spending is ok but this one isn't?
Oh my god the math just came through 😂 since the points can't be farmed, everyone who does anything will have the same points. So the ranked rewards will be based on the amounts of webstore offers you have bought 😂😂

Well that and those got the July Twitch drop (which was send before the Realm event start). So those that claim it late get an advantage on the rank rewards due to Kabam mistake (again).

Someone should have told you in kindergarten that eating crayons and glue had consequences...
The real thing I don't understand about this event is: If the game team truly intended to set up the point thresholds this way, why did they bother making it a realm event?
The "realm" aspect of an event is meaningless if an individual has no vested interest in the performance of the community, and are solely focused on their own progress. It might as well have been a solo event.
If we look back at the first (unofficial) realm event, the necropolis run, we can see that the whole community rallied around that effort. Why? My theory is: * The barrier to entry for an individual was challenging but reachable (a single run of necropolis) * Once that barrier to entry was passed, the individual would receive all rewards achieved by the community.
These two elements meant that you, as an individual, had an incentive to achieve that necro run for yourself, and then you had an incentive to both cheer other people on, and do your own additional runs, with knowledge that you'd be helping out the community.
With this format, where individual thresholds will always be stricter than community targets, the community aspect of this event is simply irrelevant to every individual. It's a footnote. Nobody is going to do more than necessary to help our their friends, because they can't help their friends with their individual thresholds. And they couldn't do more than necessary even if they wanted to, because each individual's contribution is strictly limited.
I just don't get why they bothered to structure this in this way. If they simply made this a solo event, they probably would have gotten a lot less frustration. The community is looking for something to rally around. This is, by construction, simply not it.
So this is what’s essentially replaced the Summoner Appreciation events? This really feels poorly designed as a ‘community event’ if there really is no way to grind points. The tie breaker for points will be $$$ it’s one thing spending money for points if others can at least grind, but this makes it impossible for a non spending player to rank 1st which sours this event.
Summoners fest event should be fun rewarding and for everyone who plays and loves the game so even if they couldn't join it physically they can celebrate . Wth is this?

This isn't replacing the "Summoner Appreciation Events."
Curious more clarity for Realm event coming? soon?
If you engage with the game in all areas throughout the next two months, you'll gain points in the event. The more players that do this, the higher the overall Milestone will get, granting everyone more rewards throughout the event.
You can reach the top milestone without spending money on the event. There are some milestones linked to in-person announcements, etc, at Summoners Fest in November...
Is there any additional clarity you're looking for me to share?

Hi Mike,
Appreciate you providing further information on this matter.
One thing that cause concern for players (including myself is) the Twitch drop.
In the "How to earn point" it stated that July and August Twitch drop give Realm event points.
However the July Twitch drop was send out before the Realm event start with information on how to earn points.
Some players that collect their Twitch drop late got extra point than most players. I believe that @KabamPinwheel mentioned that wasn't intended.
From the information provided so far it seem that players can earn a fixed max amount of points, however because of this Twitch drop issue, there will be players that get more than they should (or players not getting the right amount that all players should). This will have a big effect of the Ranking and rewards.
Could you please ask the team that oversee the Realm event on what is Kabam official response to this and if there are any plan of a solution.

Well it’s good to know that hopefully means we still have Summoner Appreciation Event as still something we have to look forward to.
I still think (as do many others) that as a realm event this is poorly designed. The rank rewards it’s not at all fair. There is absolutely no grind to this. It’s one thing be able to buy Elders Marks in order to grind more Battle Grounds as you at least still need to do the fights to get points. It’s another thing to just let people buy the points as this event allows. Also for those that don’t spend there’s likely to be thousands of us all on the same number of points. How are you going to differentiate the rankings if there are several thousand people all on the same number of points, but the number of players within bracket is smaller?
As for the Twitch drop issue, it actually wasn't intended for it to be in the July drop, and these are extra points.
I'm aware that some people got it over others - (Why are you waiting a whole week to claim the Twitch drops, btw...?) - and I've asked the Data team to run a giftmap to everyone who claimed it before the points were live.
Maybe we'll do more streams with more extra points? Who knows, it's a long summer - and this event is supposed to be a casual and fun source of extra rewards you gain from engaging with the game leading up to Summoners Fest (come hang out in Vancouver, btw)
