This new mode again is aimed at making sure top players and big spenders shine this while giving you random champs is ridiculous i’ve done about 25 matches now and every single one gives exactly what you don’t need every round but go watch a youtuber and they landing top hands like crazy. Seems like another money grab to get people to try and spend more seems to be all this game is about anymore. The more you spend the better your outcome. I know i will be told that’s not true but let’s face it deep down you all know it is

There’s no spend option other than energy though.

Do you know poker hands? That’s all it is, learning to play 5 card draw and working those probabilities.

Exactly this. Most of the time you'll get three of a kind, maybe two pairs or a full house. But that's ok.

This is a great mode, love it 😁

I'm yet to understand how this poker-like mode works since I don't play poker but I don't see how it benefits spenders in any way.

Those with poker knowledge have the upper hand but I plan on learning the rules

Only in that you can play as much as you want and keep buying energy with units I guess?

I agree that it benefits poker knowledge and also rng.

I don't play poker and the only reason I am scoring poorly is trying for Legendary. This game mode is great, tons of fun, and does not require a spending account.

I want a non-energy version to play for fun on the side too. Like BGs.

What you observed is just pure luck.
This mode is like 30% decision making to kinda guess how you can increase your points from the swaps but the remaining 70% is just cold hard hitting RNG and luck.
I actually don't like this mode cos I for once wanted a mode completely free from RNG and entirely skill based. Like when will there be a mode where you can get to the top without spending money but just being good at the game..I am still waiting.

so if a whale REALLY wants the #1 slot, they could purchase, with IRL cash, units to buy arbitrarily large amounts of energy refills, blowing them on 30energy “enhanced” hands (like high stakes), and ensuring the size of their purse dictates the max ceiling for attainable points in a week.

FTP are nerfed only in that they have to HAVE energy, or refills, or units to buy such. and this mode is labor time intensive (the fights are mindless), so cuts into QoL specifically as it takes time from Arena, primary source of FTP units.

theory falls apart at the “won’t whales just BUY the 7* if/ when they offer?’, and not even touching an account trying to to hire a team of pilots or get a script to play 24-7.

I’m not gonna be #1, I will get some rewards out of this, and I’m not ruffled either way. but though the perspective may help.

There will never be a true skill based mode. People hate it when they can't spend money to get an advantage over others. Why do you think everyone starts crying when someone complains about BGs. No other fighting game restricts the top ranks to only the highest spenders.
