Is Kabam allergic to making new fun refreshing game modes with their marvel IP they have access to?

Like seriously every game mode lately is just a rehash of another game that is sloppily/poorly done.

Like seriously every game mode lately is just a rehash of another game that is sloppily/poorly done.

That's nearly how 80% of all video game companies work. Both mobile and console/pc.....
If it works and is successful, it get used by others but with small changes.

Thats why they all end up flopping, like ubisoft, EA, the audience wants unique and passionate projects like expedition 33 (even though I havent played it)

Except expedition 33 is basically final fantasy but for the new generation.

i kind of feel that way too but that's also how gaming works where core mechanics are the same and there's a million different variations.

    tetris
    flappy bird
    candy crush
tower defense (plants vs zombies, clash of clans)
endless runners like subway surfers/temple run

I don’t get the hypercritical judgment lately. They're testing new ways to mix things up. This is a mobile game, one that's lasted longer than many others. There will always be limitations on a game with basic touch mechanics. However, trying new ways to add layers to it isn't a bad thing. It's a good thing. Would people prefer things stay the same and grow stale?

On one hand people say things are stale, on the other hand the moment they try something new people complain. Kinda makes it seem like a lose-lose scenario.

How about making less generalized statements and focusing more on what exactly you’d like to see from the new game modes and events?

As always, it’s just a matter of degree. How different can they make new modes from the core game and still keep or grow engagement — that seems to be the boundary that Kabam wants to explore.

For me, the autobattler stuff is too much of a stretch and a move away from the reasons I like MCOC and have played it for a decade.

It’s like if you built a community around a game with the depth and complexity of chess, then you introduce something that is akin to candyland. And then the justification is “don’t you get it? This new mode is inspired by candyland.” (Or whatever the turn based games that I don’t play are called.)

It's really along the same lines as a mini game. There are many games with mini games in them. It's just something to add layers to the game. You can appease some people most of the time, but you can't appease most people all the time.

It’s pretty bleak when the language you choose is that of appeasement.

What if they came up with a really awesome new game mode? Something with the impact of BGs? That’s the level of expectation we should have for Kabam. Not, “well, this new mini game is a complete embarrassment but hey, can’t please everyone.”

Rewards aside, this seems to have delighted almost no one.

So you think all ideas should be BG-level? Isn't that expectation a little unreasonable when all they're doing is testing ideas?

Good ideas and concepts, but could be improved, simple as that

If people don't like it then they won't play it

I think we should have high expectations, yes. It’s a bunch of talented people running a successful game built upon some of the strongest IP in the world. Gimme something better than recycled quests and cheap experiments.

How long has BGs been around anyway? 2 years? 2.5 years? They’re due for another good idea that will energize the game in a meaningful way.

I'm not doubting their talent. I'm here, and have been here for a decade. The point is, not all ideas are going to be bangers, and not all ideas will appeal to everyone. There are people who can't stand BGs. There are people who don't like every aspect of the game, one way or another. Some don't like this, some don't like that. You can't appeal to everyone in a game like this. What you can do, is make a bit of something for as many people as you can. Which means tossing ideas out there now and then. Personally, I'm more into MCPoker than MCArcade. I'll still run them both.
For the record, while BGs were highly popular, they also reshaped the game itself. Not necessarily in good ways.

BGs — for all their flaws — is the main reason this game is still thriving. That mode provided fuel that was desperately needed to drive engagement, champ acquisition, etc. Not saying everyone loves it or should love it, but it was a huge idea that really fanned the fire of the game.

Experiments are good, but these swings just feel like opportunistic gimmicks, probably driven by ease of implantation as much as anyone else. I’d like to see experiments that are a little closer to the core characteristics of the game.

It's not the main reason the game is still thriving. Sorry, that's just not the case.
There is such a thing as being too competitive and rewarding. The entire game economy shifted because of it, and as much as it motivated people to play, it demotivated them from playing other aspects of the game. There is always a good and a bad aspect to things, and the game isn't being supported by BGs. Not at all.

It's a part of the game, not the fuel that feeds the fire of MCOC.
