Kabam – Enough Is Enough. The AI Is a Joke and It’s Killing the Game.
I’ve held off posting like this for a long time, but after the latest update and the state of Crucible and BG ai this week, I’m at my absolute breaking point. The AI in this game is atrocious — and what’s worse is that it’s knowingly atrocious, and still nothing is being done about it.
Kabam publicly admitted nearly a year ago that the AI was reacting too fast. You admitted it. Then 4 months ago, you followed up with the infamous “AI 2.0 deep dive”, which amounted to nothing tangible. It’s now August 2025, and if anything? The AI is worse than it’s ever been.
Let me be blunt:
I am sick of being light intercepted out of nowhere, sick of backdraft intercepts where the AI reacts faster than any human being can. Sick of AI blocking my relics after the second hit or my specials thrown at the end of a full combo and punishing me instantly for it — something I literally cannot do back to them as you can’t even punish specials anymore. I’m sick of being animation locked when they are not.
Why is the AI allowed to recover faster than us? Why do they not have animation lockouts too?
Why is it allowed to throw frame-perfect special intercepts the instant I go to tap their block?
Why does it punish me for trying to bait a special, while flat out refusing to throw its own specials until I’m cornered or until all my stings/debuffs have conveniently fallen off?
None of this is exaggeration. Anyone playing your “endgame” content right now will tell you the same thing: it’s a revive fest not because we suck — but because your AI is broken. It has been for years but at the very least it has been for nearly a year now by your own admission, and we’re still sitting here dealing with the same rubbish.
What’s worse is the obvious monetization loop tied to it. AI gets worse → we die more → we use more consumables → we’re encouraged to spend. It’s not even subtle.
And what’s more it’s downright insulting to expect players to spend £1,200–£1,500+ every couple of months for the latest 7-star “chase” champion, when the basic core gameplay isn’t even functional - and that’s without even mentioning all the bugs, glitches and dropped inputs.
And don’t get me started on the AI after 60 FPS implementation. It’s somehow even more unreactable. You said it was “frame perfect” so at 60fps it can now react every 16.7ms?! Why?! Humans only react every 200ms, that’s 10-12x FASTER than a human!
In the last year alone the response windows are way tighter, and the AI has now turned into a turbo-reacting bot that punishes you for doing what the node demands. This isn’t difficulty — this is broken design.
You keep releasing shiny new events, game modes no one asked for (eg Doom cycle), and paywall after paywall after paywall, and yet you can’t seem to fix the one thing that actually matters in a fighting game: THE AI.
You can’t keep dodging this.
This isn’t about being salty over a few losses. This is about months of built-up frustration because the fundamental experience of playing this game — simply going into a fight and having it feel fair — is gone. It’s a mess. It’s a broken mess.
We’re coming past a year since Kabam Pinwheel’s admission that the AI is reacting too fast.
We’re 4 months past the so-called AI 2.0 announcement.
We’re still waiting.
And in the meantime, it’s getting worse.
So here’s the ask:
Fix the AI. Stop prioritizing cash grabs over core gameplay.
This isn’t sustainable. People are burning out, large content creators are flat out quitting the game (Brian Grant, TrapMCOC, Seatin, hell even Richtheman looks burnt out ffs), and players just hate-logging in because they feel forced to. That’s not how you keep a game healthy — especially not one that just passed a 10-year anniversary milestone.
Start acting like a studio that actually wants this game to survive another 10.
