Night Thrasher vs MODOK

Well, the thrasher buff is certainly a buff of all time. One of his niche matchups is MODOK, but even that is bugged because knocking MODOK down with thrasher's heavy isn't removing his autoblock charge.

Why that matters is the final hit of thrasher's sp1; unlike the rest of his specials, medium, or heavy, isn't a board hit so it CAN be autoblocked. The way to play it would be knocking him down with a heavy and then throwing sp1 while autoblock is in cooldown. But that is bugged rn. So essentially our boi can't even set up his debuffs and build up his dmg in one of his best matchups.

Also, MODOK's in-game and website description is missing the part where it says knockdowns remove his force field (or maybe I'm just blind). I only learned about this on youtube from like the only 2 videos of the MODOK update that exist there. It works when using others like photon, but not with thrasher.

Fairly certain that part of Modok's update was that a heavy no longer disabled the force field.

Well it's still being removed by photon's heavies. And if it's not meant to be removed by a heavy at all, then what was the plan with the Thrasher buff where he can't even do the matchup he's targeted for.

Here is the issue though from what I just tested.

When someone other than Thrasher (I used Arcade and some other champs) hits Modok with a heavy, it removes the force field.

When Thrasher hits Modok with a heavy, it doesn't remove the force field.

I mean, it's possible it isn't a glitch.

Thrasher's heavy has true accuracy so it bypasses autoblock.

So maybe if a heavy bypasses the autoblock then it doesn't affect the force field.

Which as OP said, makes Thrasher kind of a dubious counter since that means the whole fight you'll have to stick to mediums and heavies because the force field will never go away.

Whereas with a different champ, you can just remove the force field with a heavy and then play normally until it returns.

At least in my experience so far, it seems like landing a heavy hit while Modok is NOT stunned removes the force field. I think it’s because you trigger the auto-block and thus the cooldown but the heavy attack breaks block. If he’s stunned when you land the hit, the forcefield doesn’t trigger because you can’t trigger autoblock or evade while stunned (unless explicitly called out by the ability). Probably something similar with thrasher’s true accuracy?
