Someone asked the question a bit back wondering if it is possible to get to Valiant in MCOC without opening a single crystal. Instead, using stuff like selectors and special calendars to get your champions. Here is the original post.

The rules of this challenge is that you may not open any crystals or spend any IRL money. The one exception is the 2* nexus that is part of the tutorial on a new account getting me 2* Hulk. The way to get champs was through guaranteed rewards like in the first few quests and chapters for 3* champs. This challenge also hinged a bit on Kabam's generosity with things like login calendars for champs in the future. Up to 5* champs was guaranteed due to the new summoners login calendar. 6* champs were uncertain but fairly often, Kabam would give out a few to celebrate Marvel movies or whatever.
The big challenge was to get the 2 7* champions needed for Valiant. There are currently a few ways to get guaranteed 7*s but each have their unique challenge. 100% Necropolis gives 7* Maestro and a 7* launch pool selector, but getting good champs for necro was uncertain and since you cannot open any crystals, you dont have access to relics. Another option is the Deathless champs. you just need to grind out the units and radiance to purchase them since most pieces are unavailable otherwise. The CCP Carina challenges give 2 7* selectors and was the path I was planning on using to get my 7*s.
I got to Uncollected in a few days with only 3* champs and that unlocked the login calendar for thunderbolt movie on my account. i was able to get 5*s of winter soldier, red guardian, taskmaster, and ghost and used the selectors to get 5* Iron man 2x and wiccan.
These are who i used for act 5 and started into act 6. I purchased 6* Captain Marvel through a chain offer for 3.5k units making her my first 6*. With her i was able to get her to rank 3 and get Cavalier.
The rest of act 6 was a struggle. the worst was 6.3.1 Medusa with do you bleed node. i used 5* taskmaster since he was my only champ with bleeds.
I got thronebreaker after almost 3 weeks. This reset the Thunderbots calendar and gave me some 6* champs: winter soldier, red guardian, taskmaster, and ghost as well as 3 selectors where i chose Thor, storm and black panther.
With my new 6*s and a few more 5*s from either the pc launch or the new summoner, I got through act 7 and got paragon and unlocked the CCP Carina Challenges.
I had chosen 6* Thor earlier for the the one challenge. I was not sure if i could get all the champs necessary to make each of them possible. each challenge gives a 6* selector of the needed champs, so I knew i could get most of them through that. I completed both Kang challenges with 5* Stark Spiderman and chose 6* Zemo and 6* Mojo.
I then paused progress on the CCP challenges since i needed more champs I had enough to do every challenge except "A Classic Threat" since i would be 2 champions short. I decided to wait to see if i could get any of the champs needed. I finished act 8 after a month and a half.
Then a blessing came to this challenge. Kabam announced raid month. Through that i was able to get my first 7*. i had all the rankup gems and catalysts to take my 7* invisible woman to rank 3. I just needed one more champ. I grinded units and radiance to potentially buy a deathless as the second. I could have grinded out the high evolutionary from the "poker" event but i did not think i had enough units and energy refills for that.
Things were slow for a while then just grinding out eq for units and waiting. Then the Rebirth event was announced and I knew that was how i could get my second 7*. When the even launched, I did normal difficulty 100% to get a rank 3 gem and 2 rebirth tokens. I got my third token from the arena event. I picked up a 7* sabretooth and took him to rank 3 completing this challenge!
The champions i picked in most of the selectors including the 7*s were not always the best champ available, but ones that I needed or wanted because i have not played them much on my main account. Sabretooth in particular i picked just to have fun with in Necropolis after the challenge is over since I will retire the account after that.

It took me a total of 115 days to complete this. as 7*s become more common, this challenge should be easier for anyone in the future. I would challenge any of the content creators to do this challenge and have fun with it. I had a blast doing this challenge.
