Silver Samurai, I agree like others is both a surprise and looks cool. Nice to have a surprise like this. This leaves us only October through December. Should be interesting to see how we wrap up the remaining months of 2025.

All we need is more mystics with poison, more techs with reverse control and neurshock immunity, more cosmics that can parry non-contact and chain combo into heavy, more science with debilitate, more skills with some combo meter manipulations and autoblock counter mechanics and we should be set for the upcoming 5/5 defenders whose threats can't be countered by any of those and will require an unusual mechanic.

A mutant who needs to be bled might be a great idea since not many relevant tech champions inflict bleed. Am I cooking?

I mean, yeah? The mutant class is evolving as every other class in the game is by expanding its key features and daunted is the current expansion for mutants, in the same way that neutralise was for mystics, pulverise was for cosmics, disintegration was to Techs, severe debuffs are for science etc etc.

that’s true, of course. But like every other thing in this game, it’s a matter of degree. The cycles of introduce problem » sell solutions are getting more and more compressed. If you pull a 5/5 defender like Yelena or Hevo, you get about 3-4 months before the game has a lot of counters.

Same thing with Jean. knight dude coming in with some kind of combo-eating mechanic.

It’s not that the pattern has changed, it’s just accelerating. Which is another way to devalue the investments players make in acquiring and ranking defenders.

Ok well would you rather only have 3-4 months without a counter to a tough defender, or go back to the old days when they were damn near unbeatable for a year or two?

totally fair question and the answer is I’m not sure.

In certain modes — BG, for example — it feels like Kabam has adjusted their strategy to account for the fact that there are more counters than ever for top defenders. And they seem to have addressed this by making the nodes wildly annoying for every champ, no matter the matchup. I was playing BG this morning and found myself thinking, “why am I doing this?” Between the inexorable and the power snack, it’s not fun at all. It’s just annoying as hell, regardless of who I draft.
