Hey all,Balance Team here again with an update on the latest round of Champions up for review, Bastion + Jean Grey!
Bastion
Bastion joined The Contest aimed at being a versatile Attacker, ramping off of Energy DOTs, and countering Mutants like a good Sentinel should. Bastion has quickly become a staple in Alliance War, drawing consistent bans on Expert and Elite maps, and handling Hazard Shift when left open. In Battlegrounds, Bastion performs well against a variety of Champions. With his unique damage type and strong Utility, like Parry Non-Contact and Pursuit, Bastion has been a great addition to the Tech Class. Overall we’re happy with how Bastion has contributed to The Contest and he will be staying as is.
Jean Grey
As an iconic member of Professor X’s First Class, Jean Grey was a worthy candidate to debut the Uncanny ability, adding a new layer to the Mutant Class and their love for high-impact Special Attacks. We’re happy with how her PvP match-up spread is playing out, with Jean emerging as a reliable and efficient counter into a wide group of Skill Defenders (RIP Thorns), and strong performances across the board in day to day matchups. Defensively, Jean taps into the threat of Reversed Controls in a novel way, reflected by her strong defensive performance on release. We’re also happy to see that Summoners have quickly adapted to a Defending Jean Grey and her Delirium triggers with a variety of gameplay strategies and counters. Overall, we’re happy with how Jean Grey has landed and will not be making any changes to her kit.
