Worst AI I’ve Ever Seen When Doing Some Exploration Last Night

I wish I would have recorded this if I would have known. It was a mordo fight when doing some Act 8 exploration that I was finally getting around to. Worst I’ve ever seen the AI act. I was hitting block, holding my block trying to bait heavies, dashing forward and backwards. I was doing everything to try and get him to throw a heavy or special but all he would do is turtle in the corner and do this glitchy on/off block thing and then throw the sp3. Luckily it was just act 8 but absolutely crazy to see AI doing this. Only thing I didn’t do was try to get close to him and throw a heavy because I know as soon as I did he would cancel… Next time going in I was able to chip him enough before he started doing the turtling again.

Anywho, I know Kabam likes specifics when trying to fix issues like this so thought I’d give my two sense. Hope this helps

are you new to the game brother? It's well known that when Mordo has his power gain he will go extremely passive, which is why even when he has powergain buff you can throw a heavy attack to cancel the powergain and fight normally.

so how exactly am I supposed to throw a heavy attack if

I can’t stun him
I can’t get him to throw a heavy
Can’t get him to throw a special
Can’t get a heavy attack off without getting mine canceled

just throw a heavy attack when the powergain is active.

If he has powergain buff active. Your heavy will connect 99% of the times.

For Mordo, I try to use a champion that places a taunt effect; ie Spiderman OG, Overseer, Photon, Scorpion, etc. That usually works.

Mordo has had the same AI ever since he was first released. He goes aggressive when he doesn't have his powergain, goes defensive when he does. He almost never interrupts a heavy during his power gain phase.

You can also skip it entirely by timing your combos to hit during the power gain, since hitting him turns it off.

You can counter his astral evade with coldsnap or slow.

Nothing new here, some defenders just have different base AI.

forgot to mention that was prob part of the issue on this one particular one. Had to work with the node. Had to be champs with high crit rate and high crit damage

yeah I would’ve brought a direct counter so I didn’t even have to deal with it but I forgot to mention in the post that he was on a weird node

Which nodes? I just looked at all the Mordos in act 8 and didn't see anything that would require such a specific counter against him. Which chapter?

And as has been pointed out, this is just Mordo being Mordo. When the power gain is up, run up to him and throw a heavy; it's a pretty easy opening.

Yeah, only thing he will usually do to avoid your heavy is back up.. if he is cornered he will just eat it usually.. then leave yourself open when he stands up.. best chance to bait a special out

The only revive tax Mordo is in act 6 with the stupid strength in numbers node.
