Why is no one talking about energy refills?

I used to always have around 20 energy refills in my stash, but now I'm completely out. Since Kabam revamped the event structure, it feels like they’ve removed energy refills from everything — side events, solo objectives, and even the new weekly "super events."

It’s like they either forgot to include them or deliberately left them out. With all the content that requires energy now, this change feels frustrating and unnecessary.

I’m really starting to wonder what direction Kabam is going with this.

There have been several threads about energy refills and conversations about them in non-energy refill threads.

Kabam has said we don't need them because we only run 1 difficulty of EQ (technically 2 with Elder) and that is why they took them out.

General consensus is Kabam is wrong, but other than their initial reasoning they have been silent on the matter.

I agree there is plenty of content using regular quest energy and once EQ is adjusted there will be even more to use it on so I don't like the energy refills removals either.

That response from Kabam feels completely disconnected from how the game actually works now.

Before the event revamp, most of us just focused on the Monthly EQ, and not many were touching the Daily Events. But now, with the way content is structured, we need energy — a lot of it — just to keep up.

Right now, it takes around 150 energy per day just to complete the Daily Quests and claim the essential rewards. And that's not even counting the other core parts of the game like:

Story content
Battlegrounds
Side Quests
Monthly EQ

With energy refills removed from solo objectives, side events, and the new weekly "super events," players are being drained — literally. It feels like we're being pushed toward spending units or buying refills just to play normally.

If this was intentional, then it's disappointing. And if it was an oversight, then it needs to be fixed — fast.

From what I have read the vast majority of people (on the forums at least) agree with what you said here. All of these feelings have been expressed in the various conversations that have taken place.

Sadly Kabam is just staying silent on this issue. Whether that is because the fiasco of Adaptive EQ and now the growing disappointment over the new SQ is just taking up more attention in their minds or it is because they have said all they intend to on the matter and consider it closed is an unknown.

This is a complete departure from how the game's worked for almost 10 years. It was centered around abundant energy and being able to clear large pieces of content whenever players needed without reaching into their pockets.

Energy represents freedom and is pro-engagement, it lets players set aside time to freely interact with all modes in the game whenever they like. This is a good thing!

Reducing interaction to 20 minutes every 7hrs does nothing but nickel and dime frustrated players (the bad kind of frustration). If I wanted to cripple engagement, I would do exactly this. Limit their gas so they can't drive anywhere meaningful without charging a cheap tax.

You know how you get more game engagement? By letting them engage with the game! This does the opposite and goes against their f2p business model.

This is how much energy is takes to finish just 1 of the daily quests and no it's not optional, it has units and has to be done.

The remaining energy can do like a couple of fights in EQ or whatever. What if you need to do the 48hr battlegrounds objectives? What if you have to grind BGs in general? What if you need to do a sidequest? Or 9.3?

Yeah, this is absurd and this change needs to be walked back completely. Handcuffing your players with this cheap stuff doesn't create engagement, it kills it.

The game is telling players to either pay to run their game or just ignore it while they wait the 7hrs. Insane change of direction.

Concur threads have been everywhere… I started one, commented in the others. Kabam wants us pay up or touch grass. That’s the only conclusions that can be drawn. They have been commenting on other threads but zip on this….

Maybe there's good reasoning behind Kabam's decision, I don't know I'm just another rando, but to me this change is so out of character for their f2p business model because it suffocates engagement from THE ONE group they're trying to convert into spenders.

I can imagine F2P looking at this and saying, oh gee, my ability to do anything and grow my account is hampered to a point where I don't even care anymore. Let me see, I have 7hrs to play something else, what else is there?

They spent 10 years trying to glue players to their phones, but this change is a complete inversion of pro-engagement, it's like kicking people out of a restaurant 2 bites into their meal.

I get it that they want more people to log in more often to time their routine with energy timer capacity, but it’s pretty limiting when doing so. I don’t see the difference if removing it or keeping it as amount of time you invest into the game is the same amount of time you would give away by login multiple times a day. So instead of login 3x a day to burn out those questing energies you can use 3x full energy refills to give the same amount of time. Takes about what? 5 minutes to do login up to 3 times a day?
