Does Anyone Else…
Miss how the game was during the Jax and Miike era? It’s a thought that just crossed my mind and I realized how much I actually miss how the game used to be and how good it was before it started going downhill when they left. I’m not saying they had anything to do with actual design it’s just odd that after they left the game started to change drastically as well, maybe a lot of other devs stepped out.
1. Long form content: I remember when Necropolis came out and with it the realm event, I had never seen the playerbase as engaged as it was when it happened and to this day Necropolis remains as my favorite piece of long form content ever created by Kabam. Epoch is also another perfect example, I’m fully aware Miike and Jax weren’t here for the final quest with Ares but they were here during most of the first quests with the milestones which I can safely say were also extremely fun even though that Abs Man was absolutely busted on release lol. The first Crucible, another example of endgame content that was praised by the entire playerbase and that I absolutely loved. Now? Well I finished Wheel of Fate yesterday and I can safely say it’s one of the worst most boring pieces of content ever created just straight up garbage.
2. Sales: we get a sale every 2-3 months these days and they’ve started to release the 6* gods from the golden era of 6* for ridiculously high prices. 7* Torch cost the same as my new iPhone lmfao during the Miike and Jax era sales were actually fair and we didn’t get nearly as many as we do these days, and whenever we did get extra ones like that garbage Cap’s Comissary Event, the rewards were so bad you didn’t even care if you missed out, the same can’t be said about sales these days where 90% of them some sort of fomo (Red Guardian, Dark Phoenix, Torch, Silver Samurai etc) and yes I am guilty of spending money to get some of them but that’s why it annoys me so much, the game never felt as p2w as it currently does.
3. Buffs: I remember when we used to get buffs quite often and they were insane (Red Skull, Red Guardian, OG Hulk, OG Iron Man, Luke, Sup. Iron Man and the biggest one of course Mr. Sinister). Now I’m aware the Glorious Guardians buffs were great but what the hell has been going with buffs lately? Patriot went from mid to mid but I can take Photon a lil better, Voodoo went from mid to usable but still not good enough, and don’t even get me started on Sabretooth and Night Thrasher cause those two somehow went from trash to premium trash like come on. The worst part is the buff cadence has slowed down massively and still the quality of the buffs continues to drop down too, why?
4. Communication: no need to go into detail on this one, we’ve been waiting for an update on Crashed’s dev diary for weeks, we’ve been waiting for an update on the comp package for weeks, and the forums have become an abandoned wasteland where everyone says whatever the **** they feel like saying.
5. The Deathless Chase: this one has it’s own title because the Deathless chase was one of the most engaging and fun events this game ever had with one of the biggest payoffs f2p players have ever seen, Deathless Thanos. But this isn’t about Thanos alone, acquiring all the pieces and doing that final Carina’s Necro challenge for the dupe took the fun factor to a whole new level. What do we get now? A team of original characters that by themselves are decent but nothing crazy, and you acquire them with money basically because we know most of us aren’t making Celestial in BGs. Bring back another Deathless chase with Kang and scrap the Eidols forever please.
6. BGs: another subject I don’t really need to get into that much detail, sure Radiance and reward updates were a huge deal but what happened to BGs being fun in general? Every BGs meta for the past few months has been a power gain one or a stun immune one. What happened to fun metas like crit me or that one dot meta with vicious where Werewolf was busted on attack?
Anyways I’m sure there’s more I could add but it feels like I’ve been typing for hours now so I’ll just stop here. I just really miss how the game used to be 1-2 years ago, I hope somebody can knock some sense into these damn devs soon before it’s too late.
