Yet another SW solution better than Kabams

Apologies to my fellow summoners if this has been suggested before in one of the 10000 SW threads.

Kabam thinks ensnare is too busted on defense (fumble says hi btw) and complicated on offense and wants to remove it entirely from SW's kit on offense and defense.
Okay first of all you're liars kabam. But here's my suggestion.
Sure. Remove ensnare from the kit entirely. Just gut it.
Now bring it back as an infintetly selectable prefight. It wont activate on defense and now summoners who in basically your own words are too stupid to understand it wont have to deal with it unless they want to.
Now since basically no summoner fits that demographic, everyone will be able to turn ensnare on but with extra steps

This is one of many great solutions that I have seen that are better than Kabam’s, and I really don’t care how many threads we have on this. Because Kabam loves giving us defenders that are just straight BS, and then they nerf our attackers that have a chance to reduce the amount of BS we deal with. It feels awful

If they said their honest reasoning I would be more likely to accept it, because atm their justification doesn't make sense.

Either implement OP's idea or be honest and say her attack is getting nerfed on purpose too.

I like this idea but I like the idea of not nerfing her more. Kabam's reasoning doesn't make any sense so why not tell the truth and say the player base can't have nice stuff. I'm fine with nerfing champs if it makes sense but common, this one is hard to justifiy.

Taking away ensnare is not going to gut the champion. From memory there is only 1 mystic champion that has evade in their base kit (mordo), and the champion isnt even designed to counter them. This simply means that ensnare as a mechanic benefits her in matchups where the class wheel should be negatively impacting her. KABAM is simply removing a mechanic that only influences bullseye matchups. IF there are nodes causing champions to evade, bring a different character that is designed to work around that mechanic. Its just a game at the end of the day.

Lil bro, Your solution is allowing a prefight for a permanent ensnare? You might have better luck asking kabam to remove evade on every champ before your stupid idea even gets considered. Evidently kabam is removing the mechanic because it doesnt benefit her in the matchups she was designed to take - This does NOT mean kabam are liars because they LEGALLY have the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue aspects of their game. Guess everyone is forbidden from having a different opinion.

He never said a permanent ensnare, he said make it infinitely SELECTABLE prefight. It would have the same duration and timer it does now. We gotta add critical thinking and reading level to that skill set my boy.

Also, addressing a point in your first comment. Just because no mystic champ or champ in “preferred matchups” that has evade doesn’t mean they should just remove ensnare from her offensive kit for two reasons. (Side note, I would be more than ok with changing this to a pursuit if it’s just aar Kabam has a problem with)

One: Nodes exist. Having this evade counter made her versatile against her “target matchups” if nodes were making the fight more complex through adding evade.

Two: I would bet you a large sum of money the next mystic champ is a defender with evade. Sure would be nice to have this evade counter for future matchups…I would love to be wrong about this, but it’s just a feeling I have.

I am more bothered with the fact that Kabam is treating the player base like a bunch of idiots ..

She is performing defensively higher than 3.5 so they will take away ensnare. They will take something that prevents Evade and 30% aar; but she will stay at the same score in utility regardless of that?! How on earth does that work?

Judging off trends it is very EXTREMELY unlikely we will be seeing a mystic champion with evade. Would be extremely poor marketing considering there is a plethora of science champions with slow / anti evade already build into their kit. - So ill take your $$$ any day.

Next point, its stupid to suggest a prefight that has infinite charges when the ability could just be changed to "when not on defense", my mistake for misreading. (Just btw if they decided to make it a prefight they would be buffing the champion because champions without evade wouldn't be able to benefit from willpower / purification ect.)

Now with all our critical thinking, do we think spider-woman is a champion specifically designed with anti-evade as the main mechanic…. No. Are we all entitled little forum warriors? Yes. Fortunately spiderwoman has mechanics DESIGNED to punish unstoppable (by refreshing retribution, and providing an evade buff).

Her target matchups are mystic champions. Its not often we have a path of mystic defenders with an evade node slapped on top due to the fact that over 14 science champions have slow / anti-evade - so the argument of making target matchups easier based on nodes is pulled from thin air.

bullseye is on screen for less than 10 seconds. Id hardly say they designed SW specifically to counter the champion who is immune to power sting, has anti evade mechanics of his own, and purifies 50% of non damaging debuffs. Evidently kabam realised it was a mistake to give SW an ability that doesnt have any similarities or purpose when paired with other abilities. Real shame you cant use revives in BG's, cause based on your necropolis "exploration", you'd be spending 450 units a match.

The Deep Dive isn't sacrosant. Mike features the Champs and suggests uses based on what's in the game. Mike is not a Dev, and if something needs to be adjusted, they will adjust it.

Now, I'm still scratching my head at the reasoning, but they're not going to stop reviewing Champs and adjusting when necessary. That process isn't always additive. Sometimes they will need to tone Champs down.

As much as people think they want a game where they never touch Champs, that would kill the game faster than people being unhappy about a change. That's developmental insanity. It's the equivalent of layering willy-nilly effects on top of each other and backing yourself into a corner.

I think the real issue is the explanation. These things are easier to process when they make more sense. However, at the end of the day, it's Kabam's objectives that determine these changes.

I see the vision now twin. I am converted. They only included bullseye because he's a relevant evade defender. She was never marketed as a full bullseye counter. It all make sense now.

All the spider Womid fans are just coping at this point. At least the guy who posted this thread is getting the free reddit points and attention he wanted.

She literally loses 2 matchups to the nerf. Bullseye and the mirror match. Yes it's not ideal. Yes it makes her weaker but the rebalancing program has always been about ensuring champs that underperform are reviewed for a buff and champs who over-perform (like spiderwoman) get put in line.

Kabam is very clear that before rebalancing if you rank a champ you can't expect them to stay the exact same and this as far as I'm aware is the first time a champ has been nerfed in the programs history.

The problem is, Spider-Woman isn't over performing. And if there argument is that she's over performing defensively, then the removal of ensnare doesn't address that. Fumble is the problem on defense, while ensnare just makes her a little more valuable on offense. But even with fumble on her kit, no one was complaining about her defensively anyway.

She's not the first downward adjustment on the program, but you may be right in that she's the first nerf.

Clearly she is overperforming and the team at kabam have the statistics to reflect this hence the change.

I can't speak for the greater community but as someone who routinely plays "high" level battlegrounds she has become one of the most functionally overpowered dual threats in the game not because of fumble but because of her 0 requirement flat 30% AAR with next to permanent uptime in combination with the rest of her kit. To put it into perspective Domino's whole niche is lowering AAR and she has a flat 15% (+35% with unlucky) so I wouldn't say it's just a "little more" value on defence.

While a nerf is never going to be well received I think this change will do exactly what kabam's balance program was designed for which is bringing champs in line with how they should perform in a modern game state.
