Omega Days and Rebirth Champs

Just curious the logic from Kabam.

Omega Days champs were over a year ago May24ish and enter the radiance store for 125k.

But the champs you just sold everyone and had them chase during rebirth just a couple months ago

And

The box vault champs from 10th anniversary shenanigans all go into the regular crystal pool already.

IMO decisions like this creates just another spending deterrent, why even bother focusing any investment on champ acquisitions? (Rhetorical)

Are they assuming the good old fashion RNG of 1 in 200+ will make those other batch champs harder get in the general pool than in a selector? Throwing the rebirths in this soon after their monetization 🤷‍♂️

What’s done is done but the optics are just weird on this one IMO.

The logic is probably found in finally listening to players' feedback. This is a win for the whole game. Now they just need to emulate this behavior with the paywall exclusive champs like Red Guardian and Torch and we will be doing okay.

There's no logic in keeping 7* released old champions under exclusive access for excessive periods of time.

If they release red guardian and human torch to the basic soon i will have no issue with this. Paywalling champs, especially good ones, is a horrible thing to do

i agree that it seems pretty inconsistent when you compare the batches of champs and how / when they were originally introduced. But setting that aside, I think it’s a great pro-player move. Should at least make seven star basics a little more interesting.

I have to ask how much did they monetize the rebirth champs? I seriously don't know. As f2p got 2 crystals and 2 selectors and 1 sig 200.

Iirc, they added Legend 2023 group and reunion 2024 group to the base pool pretty early. So it's fair to have them added in December.

1.5 years for Omega days to join base pool. Its pretty damn long time. Too hard to pull from basic tbh. Im not spending 125k radiance on them though.

December cycle is standard. They added guarding group to base last December, so it make sense that gifted guardian gets added in Dec.

I think adding all the champs is a pro player move, and the issue you are pointing out is more to do with holding the Omega Days champs behind a paywall for far longer than they should have.

If Kabam had indicated that they intended to release two batches of champs a year under the gatcha box system, with them being added to the base pool 6-9 months later, all of this would be fine. Spenders would get early access, FTP would know they have a chance at champs they've missed at some point.

The same thing should happen with champions linked to sales events, Carnage, Kravem, Civil Warrior, Dark Phoenix, Red Guardian, Torch, etc. With them being available in the base pool 12-18months later.

This may all be moot, as they have a dwindling number of champions left to use in these offers. Out of the 75ish 6* that have not been added to the 7* pool, some are considered too overpowered (Herc, Kingpin, Magneto, Quake, Ghost, Valkyrie etc), with some borderline cases but also ideal for sales (Doom, BWCV, Hulkling, CGR, Scorpion, Archangel, Kate Bishop, Cassie) After that, there's not a lot that can be released as is without a tune up or overhaul. Add to that prestige changes (only 2 of the 6*'s remaining would break into the top 50), and some good champs become far less appealing for rank-ups than they would have been. So there might be some changes in how things are offered.

Agreed it’s a good thing to add access to all these champs, definitely a pro player move and necessary to remove any pay walls after some period of time. It felt a little late on the Omega and early in the rebirth though.

Feels like I just got Cull, Viv, and Anti-Venom last month. I already own all these batch champs from fully participating in the acquisition events at the time. It make someone who engaged in the sales feel like why did I even bother they are free next month. So an effective spending deterrent next a similar sales/hype event occurs.

I also thought it strange that only the Omega made it to the radiance store. Seems like they could have put in a selector for all of them if they were going to do that. Easier to really target what you want.

To be honest I would have to look it up to know what’s even in that crystal and what is not.

Are omegas even in the gen pool crystal?

Is there a precedence on the order of operations on these type releases or what?

If I was actually targeting a specific champ that I just can’t pull from the basic it would make sense to go to a selector if I wanted it that bad.

Targeting a champ in the basic pool RNG of things could take years ..ex. I’ve been patiently waiting to pull America Chavez from basic pool from what feels like an eternity.

Glorious guardians and rebirth champions were basically free to play and followed the standard roll out of when the legends event/banquet pools have entered the basic. Omega days was an event focused on spending money and so had different logic behind how long they wete going to be locked to premium crystals for. It's not that hard

What sales did you take part in for the rebirth champions? They were basically free and will join the basic at the exact same time as the previous legends event pool champions did (within 3 months depending on the titan change).

@WednesdayLength There was a sales element to obtain more rebirth tokens that led to more copies or chances at the champs than FTP only acquisition, this is the case is most things available for free. Pay to get something early or more of it.
