Speaking of nerfs…

Remember the impact of the first Big Beautiful nerf?

Star Lord - gave him count cap
Scarlet Witch - don’t remember what was changed
Thor - reduced to 2 max armor breaks
Dr. Strange - something about his heal, fury or perfect block don’t remember that one either.

Said it was necessary for the future of the game or something…almost a decade later these champs are screaming for a buff to be relevant.

But man a lot of folks were ticked and left.

Then there’s other mindful moments of exodus

- 5 stars (spenders didn’t realize the game would scale and they would have to buy everything all over again)

- 12.0 challenger rating, the death of perfect block and taking no damage
- Act 6 boosts and gates and blah blah blah Armageddon type exits

Then there was Hercules, our fun times savior - man what a pro player mistake. Good times - fun time period.

Fast forward to Serpent and enchantress, score one for the bad guys. Needed nerf didn’t get it.

Now SpiderWoman ‘ahh what fun we are having’ could have been the next Hercules type fun champ that everyone wants to use for most anything so they have to nerf that and say it’s good for the game.

Truth is data likely suggests she saved us all a few more revives than intended against the content that is supposed to get our revives. If everyone is using her and ranking her she must be too good and the don’t want another Hercules era because that would be just too fun and counter productive to getting our consumables out of the game to sell us more.

You can speculate she’s a hard counter to something to be released in the near future so they don’t want to devalue content/champs already in the funnel to be released so it’s necessary no matter how they message it to the playerbase.

Looks like since Kabam are ahead in major nerfs and not nerfs , a head on some major anti player moves how about we trade the Spider woman changes for an overdue pro player an move @Kabam(Osaurus)Rex @KabamDork

Meaningful reworks on the first four.

Make them all great again! Not ‘effective’ , great!

Thor has to be a dud for years, but buff Cull into a Nuke 🤷‍♂️
Maybe we get a new Thor when Doom comes out but OG still needs some love.

Scarlet witch and thor dont really need buffs. They are still really good. Strange just needs to be put back to his og kit. Starlord needs alot of help though. Maybe a preflight selector that let's him actually take advantage of his elemental gun and can use different kinds of DoT based on what you pick?

I remember Strange got me through so much story content and I never got OG Thor or SW until after their nerfs so I never got to see first hand how good they were.

I still took OG Thor into AQ way back when Kang was the final boss for a solo fight 😁

Switch, Thor, and Iron Fist weren't really changed that much - the game changed around them.

So, the way Armour Break worked was changed which is what had the biggest impact on Thor; and hurt Iron Fist badly.

The introduction of Diminishing Returns fundamentally changed the way Critical Rating and Critical Damage worked; which also hurt Iron Fist and Switch.

Both of these champs have also been impacted by the rising importance of Challenger Rating: a 5* Switch can 'punch up' against a 6* opponent pretty well; whereas a 6* struggles to punch up against a 7* opponent.

Thor, Iron Fist and Star Lord could use serious Tune-ups. Switch may still be useable as a 7*, if she's sigged up; but you'd have to be a serious fan to drop 199 Sig stones into Thor when he comes out as a 7*.

It's kinda crazy that we still haven't gotten any sort of announcement that he's coming at some point, hopefully.

He was final two with Cyclops and lost the vote in less than a 51-49 vote. It's obvious the community desperately wants him, moreso than 99% of the multitude of buffs we've gotten (I know those are much easier to do).

Man, this is testing my memory. However, it was quite a topic, so it's easier to recall.

SW, DS, BW, and Thor were all overpowered to the point where under the old system, there was no further content they could design that would challenge them. Quite literally and mathematically, they cut through everything because of the percentage system. BW had total AAR, Thor was a Crit machine, DS was a Swiss Army Knife, SW was as well.

Now, I don't need to explain why that was a game changer. If you can't design content that presents a challenge, the game dies fast. So they changed those Champs, as well as switched to the CR/DR system. This however, was too much too fast for Players. Hence 12.0.

Some changes to those Champs were revisited slightly, but cautiously. I suspect they didn't want to repeat the problem. Not to mention they didn't likely want the game revolving around 4 Champs alone.

DS seemed to be a sore spot for people because there was a sale on him a few months before, which was unrelated, but that wasn't the perception.

Overall, it's not possible to revert those Champs. The system doesn't allow it anymore. Could they revisit and buff those Champs? Perhaps. I'd say they're probably not too keen on it.

Not entirely accurate while i agree she is still good sw was changed heaps.

Diminish returns did hurt her, all because of the crit team demise but she was nerfed like this.

Reduction of chance to trigger veil on critical dropped from 100% to 85% (introduction of 6* raised it back to 90%)

Stun dropped from 3.5 seconds to 1.5 seconds (base both higher with mastery)

Regen dropped from 20% to 5%

Weakness no longer stacks

Weakness damage reduction dropped from 50% to 35%

Chance to proc regen or stun from 13% to 5%

Power lock dropped from 6 seconds to 4 seconds

So diminishing returns paired with lower chance to trigger and getting what you really want to trigger is less and they run for shorter time.

Kabam was not in the habit of giving out such levels of detail, back in the day - I know they said they'd reduced the chance to proc regen; but no details were given in any official announcement.

If that's accurate, then her regeneration was effectively cut by a factor of ten!
