Realistic Dracula Buff
So I think we were all expecting more from Dracula in terms of damage and regen, but not because we just want another god tier champ, but because Kabam put on their website a 4/5 damage and 3.5/5 on survivability.
I for one like the direction they went with Dracula but think it was poorly executed, I think very few changes are needed to align him with what Kabam has rated him at. I’d like to focus only on the damage and survivability/regeneration since those are the two pain points.
I want to iterate that I do not want another herc, I simply A.want the champions to line up with the rating Kabam has associated them with and B. have a fun addition that leans into their respective playstyle. After all this is a game.
Damage -
We have ourselves in a bit of a corner here, the degeneration inflicted at the start is a large degeneration, but of course has a limit and can not be increased, unless you of course reinflict it.
It can however be decreased by immunities and resistances, which is unfortunate that the best you can hope for is what is already listed, no more. But you could expect less.
Dracula’s playstyle is meant to be a slow play, meaning you are either playing with heavies or once you are interrupting the opponent with a light attack, slowly attacking so as to have more ticks of damage.
Again, neither one of these acquire more damage, only speed it up.
To remedy this, while leaning into his playstyle, I’d add a line “while the degeneration is dire, every .5 seconds inflict a X% ‘Direct Damage vulnerability passive’ onto the opponent that lasts for 3 seconds but is paused while Dracula’s degeneration is dire”
What this does is firstly allows you to increase the overall damage being dealt by the degeneration and the bleed (both are direct damage sources). But secondly it leans even further into the slow play that Kabam wants us to use for Drac, meaning the longer you are attacking, the more vulnerabilities are applied which then results in more damage. This rewards the skilled play, which is always interesting to me. You can play X champ and get out of them what you out in, always a rewarding experience when you have that kind of design and I feel Drac was made to have that feel, it just didn’t come out the way it was intended.
Survivability -
With no damage mitigation, no immunities to damaging effects, and a low base health pool, it seems his survivability can only rely on healing. His playstyle is already slightly risky meaning the regeneration should be strong, but currently I wouldn’t label it as “strong”, I would just say it exists.
Currently he regens .25% of his max health per second during special attacks. This .25% tick is increased by half as much of however much his degeneration tick has increased. Meaning at his highest reneration point (during a SP2), he is regenerating only 1.5% of max health per second.
One of two changes should occur;
1. Change his regeneration to activate during anytime the degeneration is dire. Again playing into the slow play.
2. Regeneration tick rate matches 100% of the degeneration tick rate.
End request -
One last change, that is more of just a “with a cherry on top” change; have him generate some power anything the opponent is bleeding, just like blade does. It would allow specials for be thrown more. I mean come on, he’s a mystic with no power generation and HALF mystic dispersion.
Anyways, the damage and survivability changes listed, I think are realistic and adds to his playstyle rather just saying MORE DAMAGE! MORE MORE MORE!
At the end of the day, I desire a balanced game and I don’t think every champ needs to be broken. But when kabam rates him as a 4/5 damage with 3.5/5 survivability, I expect 4/5 damage with 3.5/5 survivability.
